Ficus: home care

One of the most grown indoor plants is the ficus. It is very popular because of the variety of varieties, beautiful appearance and simple technology of cultivation. Care for ficus at home is simple. The main thing is to observe the basic requirements, and then this plant will please you with its beauty for more than one year.

Many species of this plant are unpretentious, and therefore it is easy to understand how to care for the ficus. There are different types of ficus, and, of course, some have their own care characteristics. But we are talking about the basic rules.

Most ficus like light rooms, but are very sensitive to direct sunlight. In addition, for them, a draft is contraindicated and the soil is too moist. That is, the conditions for growing ficus should be moderate. At a time when the light time of the day is shortening, it is necessary to place it closer to the source of sunlight, for example, to the window. This is necessary for the full development of shoots and leaves. A lack of light leads to their twisting.

The soil for good ficus growth consists of humus, peat and leaf land. At the same time, the leaf land should be taken twice as much as other components. The container for disembarkation should not be very large. Only after the root system has filled the entire pot, you can transplant the ficus. Care at home is simple, and as a result, you can get a beautiful room decoration. The soil for planting the fig tree should contain all the substances necessary for growth, because these plants grow quite rapidly. The older the ficus, the less often it needs a transplant. You can, if necessary, replace the top soil in the pot in which the ficus grows. Care at home is also the regular application of fertilizers. For this, mineral fertilizers for ornamental-deciduous crops are suitable.

To grow the ficus optimal is the room temperature (25-30 degrees). In winter it can be slightly less, but not lower than 10 degrees. Heat, light, excluding the direct rays of the sun and regular airing, without drafts, is what ficus requires. Care at home - this, of course, and regular watering. The amount of moisture depends on other factors. In the hot season, he needs more moisture, less in winter. Overmoistening is detrimental to this plant. It is easy to understand whether ficus needs watering. It is only necessary to check the condition of the soil at a depth of 1-2 cm. If the soil is moist, it is not necessary to water it.

Determine the need for transplantation is also quite simple. If, after watering, the earth in the pot dries quickly, and its structure resembles one, then it's time to pick up a new, more capacious container for the ficus. If near the soil surface there is a large plexus of roots, and while they are shown from the drainage hole, this also indicates the small size of the pot. It is better to transplant in the spring or summer period, then the plant will transfer it painlessly. Ficus is carefully taken out of the pot with a clod of earth and placed in a new container, on the bottom of which a drainage layer and a layer of fresh soil mixture are pre-filled. Empty space should be filled with new nutrient soil. Good drainage is a necessary condition for the normal development of the plant. Without it, it is possible to stagnate the moisture in the lower part of the pot and, as a consequence, rot the roots. For some time after landing, the ficus will slow its development and growth. After the adaptation period has passed, these indicators will go back to normal.

For such an unpretentious culture as ficus care at home is not too difficult even for a beginner florist. This beautiful plant with minimal effort will please you with its beauty, and will make the room more cozy.
