What to do if the child has conjunctivitis: treatment, symptoms and causes

If the child has conjunctivitis, treatment should be started immediately, as the development of the disease is fraught with serious complications, which are not easily disposed of. Naturally, for the beginning consultation of the ophthalmologist which should define or determine type of a pathology is necessary, and also to understand the reasons which promoted its or her development.

So, the treatment depends on the type of disease. Most often, children have bacterial conjunctivitis. More rarely you can see a viral and allergic appearance. Naturally, in each case, a different treatment scheme is built. However, if the child has conjunctivitis, the treatment involves eliminating the causes of the pathology and its consequences.

Naturally, the baby, who showed symptoms of the disease, should be isolated from the children's collective if he goes to a kindergarten or school. The fact is that the pathology is contagious (except for the allergic type). The causes of conjunctivitis in children may be different. For example, the disease can trigger a bacterial or viral infection, as well as local irritants: dust, food. In addition, weak immunity contributes to the development of pathology.

Acute conjunctivitis in children is characterized by such symptoms: sensation of foreign body in the eye, swelling of the conjunctiva and its redness, tearing and painful reaction to light, secretion of pus, which often glues the eyelids in the morning. In addition, the eyes can form yellow crusts.

If the child is conjunctivitis, the treatment involves the use of special antibacterial ophthalmic drops. In addition, it is necessary to eliminate the negative factors contributing to the development of the disease. For example, in case of allergic conjunctivitis try to remove all irritants from the child's field of vision: do daily wet cleaning, remove from the diet dangerous products. Next, treat allergies with antihistamines. Naturally, it is necessary to treat all viral infections in time.

For the prevention of pathology, teach the child not to touch the eyes with dirty hands and do not stuff foreign objects into them. If the disease has started, you can use folk methods of treatment. For example, you can drip into the eye a decoction of chamomile, calendula or tea. However, these methods should be used only after agreement with the doctor who will prescribe medicines: Oftadec, Floksal, Tobrex or Florenal.

If a child has conjunctivitis, treatment requires certain rules:

- Before hand-washing it is necessary to wash hands with soap;

- You can not let a sick child into a children's team, because the disease is contagious;

- for the medicine to have the maximum effect, it is necessary to hold the eye open for a while, so that the drops hit the target exactly;

- the drug should be of high quality. In addition, do not use funds that have expired, it is also desirable to buy a medicine with a separate dropper;

- treatment should continue until complete recovery.
