Konstantin Romanov - the most titled poet of Russia

Ironically, on the Russian throne since the 19th century there were no Russian people. There were Germans who married most often on German princesses. The Grand Duke Konstantin Romanov (1858-1915) was no exception.

Childhood

In the family of Konstantin Nikolaevich and Alexandra Iosifovna (princess of Altenburg) was born in August 1858 the second son, who was named Constantine. He was immediately awarded high orders and enlisted in all sorts of regiments.

Fine manners and vaccinations were not required - they were absorbed in the treatment of his various teachers, at first nannies of all kinds, and then teachers who gave him home education. His history was taught by our best historians, literature - the color of our literature - IA. Goncharov and F.M. Dostoevsky. Konstantin Romanov was well versed in music due to his brilliant theoretical and practical education in this field. But he was trained by his family tradition to maritime service. He was seriously trained in the program of the Naval School.

Youth

Serving with a 16-year-old midshipman on the frigate "Svetlana", Konstantin Romanov made a two-year voyage across the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean, and then passed the exam and was promoted to midshipman. He also participated in the war of 1877-1878 between Russia and the Ottoman Empire and for valiant service received the award - the Order of St. George of the 4th degree. At this time, he had already begun to write poetry. Further his ranks were promoted, but later, in 1882, he was transferred to the land department and, having received leave in 1883, met with the sixteen-year-old Princess Elizabeth, who in a year would become his wife. The poet dedicated to her lyrical lines, in which the moon shone, and the song poured a nightingale, and inspiration came. The wedding took place in 1884. Being 9 years older, the husband wanted to educate a young girl from a lyric poetry and music fan, but Elizabeth Mavrikievna, while studying the Russian language and loving her husband, was a dozen woman. She did not become spiritually close to her poetic spouse. She was interested in palace news, gossip with him. The young couple lived in Strelna, in the Marble Palace. They had six sons and three daughters, and a young woman found her calling in raising children, and not finding points of contact with her husband.

Mature years

The spiritually close august poet was the wife of his cousin and friend, later the Moscow Governor-General. The brother very subtly appreciated the gift of Constantine and supported him in this field. Sergei Alexandrovich devoted 4 poems, and his wife Elizabeth Konstantin Romanov disinterestedly admired, dedicating to her heartfelt lines, in which the delight before her perfection sounds. She was beautiful and sincere, and outwardly. Her fate will end tragically with the three sons of Constantine. They will perish, thrown alive to the mine in Alapaevsk in 1918. But this is all in the distant future, but for the eldest son Prince Romanov writes a tender lullaby. Despite his poetic gift and the desire to surrender to him in full, Konstantin Romanov served in the glory of the Motherland, wherever he was put. He was anxious about the debt that fell to his lot. In his veins the royal blood flowed, and he was the spoiler of fate, as he himself wrote, and served faithfully and honestly to the three emperors under whom his life passed-to Alexander II, Alexander III and Nicholas II.

Verses by Konstantin Romanov

Of course, they can not be attributed to the heights of our poetry, but the poet had a lyrical gift and taste. In thoughtfulness, he could also leaf through the new collections of Fet's poetic lines, and family albums. In the photo - Konstantin Romanov, a rest from official affairs. He began writing poetry early, and when he turned 24, his first poems appeared under the pseudonym K.R. He gave the collection to friends, relatives and acquaintances. It was impossible to sign a full name to a member of the reigning house, but everyone knew who was the author of the poetry collections with the modest initials of K.R. Versatile, he wrote critical articles and a historical drama, made a translation of "Hamlet" with commentaries, which he dedicated ten years of life. And his numerous lyrical miniatures served as a source of inspiration for our best composers. Special relationship with P. Tchaikovsky, who dedicated Prince Konstantin to the opera Oprichnik and the Second String Quartet. Romances of Tchaikovsky - their four - to the words of K.R. Are in the repertoire of our best performers. Frequently meeting with Prince Constantine, Tchaikovsky characterized him as a charming man. I appreciated Tchaikovsky and his musical talent, mind and modesty. Konstantin Romanov himself wrote romances for verses by V. Hugo, A.K. Tolstoy, A. Maikov.

Conclusion

As if anticipating the trials that will be sent to him and his family, 15 years before his death, he wrote "When the cross carries no urine ...", hoping that the Lord will have mercy on everyone and give both mercy and love. But the Grand Duke himself died without experiencing the death of Oleg's son in the fields of World War II, at the age of 56. And the family was partially killed near Yekaterinburg, partially emigrated after 1917.
