What kind of insulation for windows are?

Tightness of windows is one of the most important components of keeping the heat in a room. If it is broken, then about any comfortable living can not go and speeches. In this case, you should choose insulation for windows and mount them. This approach allows you to quickly and qualitatively reduce heat loss in an apartment, a private house or other residential premises.

Rubber compressor

This insulation for windows - self-adhesive. It is very convenient for them to use. One side of it is sticky. It is protected by a paper substrate, which is removed during installation. The rubber seal is available with a profile of various shapes and heights, which in many ways simplifies the choice of the product for different slots sizes. The advantages of this insulating material can be attributed to the abundance of color solutions. That is, you can pick up such a rubber seal, which will be almost imperceptible.

Silicone sealant

This material has a lot of positive qualities. It fills well the cracks, retains its properties under the influence of moisture, sunlight and wind. Also, silicone sealants are not afraid of temperature changes. Such insulation for windows are available in different colors. But the greatest popularity was given to white and colorless. Unfortunately, the mentioned sealants have a serious drawback - they do not give in to decorative treatment. That is, it is almost impossible to paint them. Therefore, they are used as a sealant for window frames during glazing. They are usually put in grooves before fixing the glazing beads.

Foam insulation for windows

This insulating window material is quite popular. Foam insulation is sold in rolls. Usually, one side of it has an adhesive base covered with a paper substrate. That is, it's very easy to mount it. To do this, remove the film that protects the sticky substrate, then tightly press the material against the surface to be glued. The effectiveness of the foam rubber insulation is not high. But it allows you to "breathe" the windows.

Putty for double-glazed windows

This sealing material is one of the oldest. Sold in construction or hardware stores. It looks like plasticine. On the physical and mechanical properties, too. It is used to seal joints between the glass and the frame. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Insulation for windows of plastic

All the above materials are suitable for wooden windows. But recently, plastic windows have come to the fore. If they are made qualitatively, and their installation was carried out professionally, additional sealing, and even more so insulation, is not required. Otherwise, you have to solve the problem yourself. And here several options are possible:

  1. To seal small crevices, paraffin or silicone sealant can be used.
  2. Internal and external slopes can also be insulated. For these purposes, foam or polyurethane foam is suitable. After installation of insulation, the slopes should be covered with putty.
  3. In some cases, heaters for windows will not be needed. Elimination of defects is achieved by adjusting the fittings.
