Preparing for the campaign! How to choose a tourist backpack?

Tourist backpack - a thing just necessary for those who do not represent their lives without a variety of hikes and outings on nature. But his choice should be taken very carefully. Many people, taking care of the tourist backpack, pay attention primarily to the price. Although this is fundamentally the wrong position - even for the minimum amount you can buy a quality, durable and spacious backpack that will serve you more than one year. And you can, on the contrary, throw out a lot of money and in the first weeks completely disappointed in its acquisition. What do you need to pay attention to?

Backpack type

There are three main types of tourist backpacks - soft, easel and semi-automatic. The machine tools are equipped with a rigid plastic or aluminum frame. The weight of the load in them is distributed evenly, which makes the backpacks extremely useful when you need to transfer a heavy or uncomfortable load. Their lack can be considered only increased due to the massive frame weight. Plus there is always a risk of a machine failure, which a beginner will not be able to cope with easily. But semi-automatic ones are ideal even for beginners - the "anatomical" shape is achieved due to vertical metal or plastic inserts. Such backpacks can be worn with a flat back. Possessing all the advantages of easel, they have practically no disadvantages, therefore they enjoy fantastic popularity in the world of tourists. Soft backpacks - trunks - do not have any stiffening elements. It is achieved, in fact, due to the proper packing of things. But if things are illiterate, the ball will give its owner a lot of trouble.

Size and shape

As for the sizes, here the tourist backpack should meet your needs, accommodate everything you need and be comfortable. For ordinary campaigns, men are recommended models for 80-130 liters, and for women - for 65-80 liters. In the case of mountain hikes for women, it is also suitable, but the man will have to pick up a backpack by volume - by 100-110 liters. Fans of skiing and water sports are better off buying backpacks of about 130 liters. The ladies in this case will have 80-100 liters.

When choosing the size of a backpack, remember that a large model can almost always be pulled off. But to expand the small is unlikely to come out. As for the form, the most practical and convenient are the oval bags.

In terms of protection from rain and other weather whims, backpacks that close with a zipper are recommended. They are much more practical than models with a "valve".

Color and material

Modern manufacturers often make backpacks from aviwent or cordura - waterproof wear-resistant synthetic materials. Such a backpack you can safely put on wet grass or land. To further protect your belongings, it's best to use the provided carrying case. The fewer seams on the product you see, the better. After all, any of them can break at the most unexpected moment. A sign of a good product is a double, covered with a ribbon, a line.

As for the color scheme, then, it would seem, what kind of difference can there be? However, it is better to buy a tourist backpack of bright colors - if you do get lost, it will be much easier to find you.

Suspension system

And the last thing that should be told about how to choose a tourist backpack is the suspension system, that is, the belts with which it is attached to the body. It is desirable that the backpack is equipped with a good waist belt - it will be able to transfer almost half the load to the hips, distributing the weight between the clavicles, spine and legs. Its width should be about one and a half men's palms. The width of the shoulder straps should correspond to the width of one male palm. Shoulder straps should be equipped with "pads", preventing their insertion into the shoulders.

A tourist backpack is not a cheap thing. So before you buy it, check it all a few times.
