There is an assumption that the word has ancient Greek roots - from tablaus or tavla - and is translated extremely unusual: "playing checkers, bones or chess on a special drawn board."

The innovative Petrovsky report card numbered 263 ranks and the same number of posts, as well as one status (the chevalier of the Order of the First-Classed). This was the first Russian order, until the beginning of the XX century, the highest award in the Russian Empire.
