Strong verbs in German and their use

A verb is the so-called part of speech, which denotes a state or action in time and plays the syntactic role of the main member of the sentence, that is, the predicate.

Features of the German language

I must say that, unlike the Russian language, there is no category of the verb type in German . Accordingly, it is rather difficult to determine what an action is, incomplete or completed, if you do not pay attention to the context. It should be noted that this feature distinguishes the German language from the rest, for example, from English. There, the time form itself determines the form of this part of speech. Strong verbs in German are relatively few. They show mainly only the root changes in the formation of the main forms. Because of this form it is impossible to form, they need to be learned. But the weak verbs do not show any special changes. They simply contribute to the formation of the second basic form, and this happens by adding a suffix to the word. And if a third form is formed, the prefix is added. It looks something like this: machen - gemacht. And in the case of suffixes - machen - machte.

Conjugation of strong verbs

This topic frightens people who are learning the language. But in fact, strong verbs in German can be easily changed if one knows what principles to do. Although this causes certain difficulties: if weak verbs can be changed by following one particular example, then in the case of strong ones it will not work. That is why they are called wrong. So, it should be noted one distinguishing feature, which is fraught with a German. Strong verbs, changing, get another root vowel. And besides, it changes in the third person units. H., But this is in the Presence. However, a certain pattern can be observed everywhere, and this case is no exception. Let's say "a" goes into its analog with the umlaut - "ä". Accordingly, it turns out, "au" - "äu". Using irregular verbs, one must remember that in the first and third person of the singular they have no endings. We also need to remember that strong verbs in German can be expressed in a special form. The phrase ich lese in the second and third person sounds like this: du liest and er liest.

Correct use of verbs

Every person who learns a foreign language must competently determine and subsequently incline this part of speech. Some, of course, decide to make a table of irregular verbs to teach them. I must say that it will be very long. Such a table will help not only to learn the decline of irregular verbs, it will also expand the person's vocabulary. Together with the grammar, the student will remember the meaning of the verbs that will be presented in the table.

Principle of memorization

The previously mentioned table of strong verbs has a certain principle by which it is compiled. There is a special classification. Strong verbs in German are divided into separate groups, into which words with common characteristics fall. They are usually taught from verbs that are often used in colloquial speech. Each word demonstrates a similar change in the vowel underlying it, with the formation of various forms. The table facilitates memorizing by heart the main forms of the so-called frequency verbal units. Man, constantly repeating the words, gradually begins to understand how they are best and more convenient to use, so that it is understandable and competent. This is the necessary knowledge - they will be useful in colloquial speech, starting with the very first sentence that a person who finds himself in Germany wants to build. And in order to be properly understood, it is necessary to thoroughly study the topic of irregular verbs.
