We treat green snot in a child

Concerns and worries appear at a time when your baby is sick. Colds that overcome a child during the autumn-winter period are often accompanied by such an unpleasant phenomenon as snot. Snot, or runny nose - is a process of mucus rejection, which is produced by the mucous surface of the nose and is a protective reaction of the body to inflammation caused by the ingress of viruses or bacteria. Runny nose is divided into three types:

  • viral;
  • bacterial:
  • allergic.

If the green snot appeared in the child, then the disease has moved to the next stage and has already taken a bacterial character. At the beginning of the disease, the snot is transparent - mucous. Such secretions are characteristic for the common cold, which is viral or allergic.

As a rule, green snot appear in the second stage, when immunity is lowered due to the cold, and there is a bacterial background in the environment. This happens if the baby's stay in the open air is limited. Or if a visit to a kindergarten, where the concentration of microorganisms in a confined space is increased, occurs before the onset of full recovery. Or (most often) with the activation of their own opportunistic bacteria, living in the nasopharynx in a child.

The green snot in a child acquires its color due to substances appearing in the mucosa upon the destruction of special cells - neutrophils. And the presence of these cells in the nasal mucosa means that the common cold has now become not only viral, it has also acquired a bacterial character. Green snot in a child should be treated without delay, since lost time can lead to the development of chronic sinusitis. In addition, it is quite possible to have osseous accidents (tubootids, otites) and the respiratory system (tracheitis, bronchitis). You should definitely consult a doctor, he will tell you what to treat the green snot in a child and what exactly drugs should be used. Do not engage in self-medication, because only a specialist will be able to put the right diagnosis and prescribe the right treatment.

Parents should be aware that the green snot in a child does not mean that they need to be treated only with antibiotics. This can be as a drug, as well as traditional medicine, and often all in a complex.

Be sure to rinse the child's spout with saline solution to remove mucus from the nasal cavity. The organism fights and it is necessary to help him in this. Well, and after washing - to dip into the tip of the baby warm drops.

Drug medications can be bought without a prescription in the pharmacy, but they should be changed every four to five days, otherwise with longer use it becomes addictive and the effect decreases.

I want to dwell in more detail on the methods of traditional medicine, because very often all that is needed is in sufficient quantities at hand, you just need to remember about these methods of treatment.

Herbal drops can easily be prepared on their own. To do this, a teaspoon of a mixture of herbs: yarrow, chamomile, calendula (or separately) you need to pour a glass of boiling water and for about twenty minutes still insist on a water bath. If there is no allergy to honey, you can add honey (half a teaspoon) to the warm infusion of herbs.

Freshly squeezed carrot, beet or potato juices effectively help in the treatment of the common cold. Be sure to remember that they should be in two or even three times diluted with warm boiled water. You can also add a little honey. And one more good rule: before burying the baby check the drug on yourself. This will not only give confidence in the painlessness of the concentration of a given solution or its temperature, but it will also work for the child as a psychological factor. On the inflamed mucous nose of the child should not be exposed to a solution of increased concentration, so that unpleasant sensations do not cause a negative reaction the next time.

Warming with dry heat gives a good therapeutic effect when treating green snot in children. Two eggs boiled in a steep, or large salt, heated in a frying pan, tied in a dense cotton or linen napkin and applied through several layers of tissue to the spout of the baby. Thus, the nasal sinuses warm up, the bridge of the nose. However, such thermal procedures can be carried out only after consulting a doctor, because if a child has purulent sinusitis (sinusitis, frontalitis, etc.), it is impossible to warm your nose!

Those who are not contraindicated wet inhalation, can use the infusions of sage, marigold, chamomile. Together with them, you can add to the boiling water tincture of propolis, which is sold in a ready-made form in a pharmacy.

Well, we do not forget about fresh air. Of course, not immediately after the thermal procedures. Walks (in the absence of temperature) play a positive role in the dynamics of treatment of this disease.
