Unique sights of the Rostov region
One of the oldest settlements in Russia is Rostov the Great, one of the eight main cities of the famous Golden Ring route. The significant past of the region determined its saturation with the most ancient architectural and cultural-historical monuments. The sights of the Rostov region have become classics of Russian and world art.
Monuments of archeology
The most famous monument of the region is the Rostov Kremlin, built in the XVII century as the residence of the bishops of the Rostov-Yaroslavl diocese. He is part of an architectural complex called the Bishops' House. The Kremlin is considered a particularly valuable object of the cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation. It was in its walls that the shooting of episodes of the legendary comedy "Ivan Vasilievich changed the profession" was conducted.
No less valuable are such sights of the Rostov region as Avraamiev Epiphany Monastery And Spaso-Yakovlevsky Monastery, architectural Whose ensemble, because of the mixture of different styles, seems like a fabulous wonder-city harmoniously flowing into the lakescape landscape.
The cities of the Rostov region also show a number of interesting monuments of architecture and history. The Don Troy
The sights of the Rostov region are unique and priceless. A lot of local and alien ancient tribes left their traces in the Don region. Thus, on the outskirts of modern Rostov-on-Don in the 50s of the last century, the ruins of the oldest Liventz fortress in Eastern Europe were discovered. This discovery historians called the world a sensation. The find was dated to the 17th century BC. The Liventsov fortress was erected by the tribes of the North Caucasian catacomb culture. Excavations were carried out on the territory of the former building. The archeological complex with an area of 8 hectares was called Don Troy. Here settlements of people have been found, since the Copper-Stone Age and ending with the Middle Ages, Scythian settlements with burials. Unfortunately, the fortress is on the verge of total destruction. In January 2014, entrepreneur A. Isakov presented a project aimed at saving a historical monument: the Livencov Fortress is to be made the center of archaeological tourism. After all, this is the only fortress in Europe of the Bronze Age, which is several hundred years older than the legendary Troy, praised by Homer.
