A bit of history

The Altai village of the Altai Territory was founded in the distant 1808. At first this settlement was the center of the Altai Volost, later it was considered to be a large merchant village. Trade and small industry were well developed here.

If we talk about people who lived on this earth in those distant times, then, according to the records found (in which, it is true, only men's souls are spoken), in 1857 there were 511 men living here, in 822 822. In the end of 19 People began to move to the Altai village of the Altai Territory, due to which the settlement quickly grew.

Already in 1893 there were 519 households and 3,082 inhabitants on this land. A volost board building was built, two churches (one of which was Orthodox, and the other one was of the same faith), a school and a school. Also, there were oil mills and tanneries, a wine warehouse, mills and several trade outlets.

According to the census conducted in 1926, the Altai village of the Altai Territory was home to 7,595 inhabitants. After almost half a century the settlement received a status according to which it was now considered an urban-type settlement.

An interesting historical fact

It is curious that the Great Encyclopedia of 1904 contains a record that the Altai is one of the first schismatic settlements. The majority of inhabitants adopted in 1857 a common faith.

On the territory of the village there were 519 households and 3,000 inhabitants. In addition, the village had two churches, a butter mill and a tanneries factory, a weekly market and a chamber of justice of the peace.

A bit about the plant breeders

Such an interesting and unusual direction appeared here due to the association "Biolit" that opened in the vicinity of the village. It is a large arboretum, the plantations of which stretch in the Altai foothills. Here, more than 70 types of medicinal and ornamental plants are grown.

Fitotourists are just visitors to the arboretum. People are interested not only in these plants, but also in the products that they produce. And here they have the opportunity to acquire these cultures, to obtain exhaustive information on each plant.
