Metro "Vorobyovy Gory" - an unusual station in the Moscow metro system
Metro "Vorobyovy Gory" is actually one of the most popular stations in the capital. Why? The prerequisites for such a statement are many. First of all, of course, do not forget about the excellent transport interchange of this place, and Muscovites, as is known, suffer from permanent traffic jams. And, secondly, it is here that the favorite place of the guests of the capital is - an observation deck, with which at any time of the year opens a striking panorama of Moscow.

By the way, it should be noted that Art. Metro "Vorobyovy Gory", is the first in the world, located on a bridge over the river.
Section 2. Metro "Sparrow Hills". The history of grand construction
On the lower tier of the metro bridge the station was placed, and on the upper one a road was made. During the design and construction of the bridge, some technological and design errors were made. All the constructions of the platform, the lower structure of the path and the bridge were one whole, so they experienced huge dynamic loads due to constant braking and dispersal of trains.
To reduce money costs, instead of metal supports were installed reinforced concrete. Since the construction was carried out in the winter, salt was added to the concrete to reduce the freezing point of water. This caused intense corrosion of the metal structure. Because of poor-quality waterproofing, the station was constantly flooded in the spring.
After flooding in the summer of 1959, the almost abandoned metro Vorobyovy Gory was in a state of decline for about a year. In the summer of 1960, the ceiling began to collapse, and from the height of four meters the duraluminous cornices began to fall. Subsequently, cracks appeared in concrete coatings, and as a result, the station was still closed for repairs. It happened on October 20, 1983.
Since 1986, trains have moved only along the bypass bridges, built on both sides of the main one. The upper tier operated for quite a long time due to the absence of a bypass road. Reconstruction of the station, it should be noted, lasted a very long time due to poor financial supply during the restructuring of the late 1980s and in the 1990s. According to official data, the reconstruction of the station lasted a long 19 years, but active construction work was carried out only from 1999 to around 2002.
Only on December 14, 2002 the station was reopened. On May 12, 1999, it was re-branded in honor of the historic district of the same name, until then it was called "the Lenin Hills".
