The most streamlined car in the world - the IAA concept from Mercedes

The developers of the company Mercedes really took a great interest in the search for the ideal of aerodynamics. Many of their models differ in the best performance in their class. For example, the model CLA does not conquer its appearance, but it is the most streamlined car in the world! The coefficient of aerodynamic drag of this car is 0.23!

New to the show in Frankfurt

At the Frankfurt Motor Show, the IAA concept was presented to the public, which makes the CLA model fade - this car has an even lower coefficient of aerodynamic resistance, it is only 0.19! The name of the model is not related to the official name of the Frankfurt show. It is an abbreviation - Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile, or "smart aerodynamic car." The presented novelty is a form-changing representative of class S with four doors, extending by four centimeters automatically, when the speed is approaching a hundred kilometers per hour.

Appearance

The front bumper is equipped with panels that are twenty-five millimeters pushed into the air flow, and there are additional ledges behind. The front bumper extends sixty millimeters under the car, even the wheels are designed in a special way. This is a real falcon or fighter, created to quickly dissect air. Headlights and an exhaust pipe are hidden, as in a racing car in the style of McLaren P1. Nothing breaks the aerodynamic performance.

Technical features

Why is Mercedes so anxious to create the perfect aerodynamics? The thing is that reducing emissions even per gram per kilometer can bring the company millions of euros. The creation of an impeccably streamlined car dissecting the air would save fuel. The concept uses a drop-shaped form of the Prius, which ends at the rear with a sharp graphic tail. This silhouette is most effective. Of course, many machines have special radiator grilles and special wheel trim, which allows the correct flow of air. But there is no such form as the IAA concept has in any other model. Environmental standards are becoming stricter, so this innovation will be a very topical direction of production development. In addition, the car looks amazing. Take at least the salon. It is not too eccentric and conforms to the standards of class S, but only a few details and blue illumination transform it and give originality. Outside, the design of the car also looks impressive.
