Lada Silhouette - the car of the future

For a long time, cars of the usual model line were assembled at AvtoVAZ, the conveyor had already worn off from the Zhiguli with Samara. It was not yet stagnation, but the routine in production was definitely outlined. And suddenly a breakthrough, a new big project. The thousands-strong team of the auto giant grew cheerful, the engineers uncovered the culmination, and the financiers prepared for large cash inflows. And indeed, the process has begun. A concept car of a fundamentally new design was created, not even a modification of the previous models, but a new word in automotive production.

By the summer car show in 2004, only the mock-up of the concept was ready, it was named Lada Silhouette. And the first project car was assembled in a year, the copy was exhibition and did not even roll on the factory track. Experimental samples came off the assembly line only in 2006, but even then a variety of bodies and prototypes of the new machine appeared.

The first series Lada Silhouette consisted of 23 body variants and 18 prototypes. The exterior and interior were not yet worked out. Nevertheless, at the 2006 Auto Show in Moscow the concept was presented for the sake of displaying the platform, development of the running gear and a completely new front suspension.

However, already in the following year, 2007, Lada Siluet possessed a completely finished exterior and its own, rather interesting in terms of design solutions salon. The work on aerodynamics of the car was completed, the results were encouraging. Silhouette was the first VAZ development, in which a dual-flow silencer was used. At the same time, a new type of radiator with upcoming cameras was created, which was never on any VAZ car. At once it was decided to develop a sedan, station wagon and hatchback. And the hatchback quickly came forward and soon it was his presentation. Sedan and wagon slightly lagged behind, but also developed without delay.

Powerplant for all cars Silhouette Lada 2116 is a perspective engine P4 with a rotation of 6000 rpm, power 112 l / s. The speed on the highway is about two hundred kilometers per hour. The car will eventually receive a diesel engine, since the Silute operation is expected in various regions of Russia. Therefore, the attention of designers does not bypass the issues of the operational nature of the new car. Brake system Lada Silhouette double-circuit with hydraulic booster, on all wheels, disc brakes with ventilation. Replacement brake pads is associated with the use of a special tool, it can only be done in the technical center.

The tires recommended for operation are 195 / 65R15 and 205 / 55R16, the pressure is normal, 1.7 - 1.8 atmospheres. The transmission is still mechanical, at 5 speeds, but in the future there will be AKP.

The car, although five-seater, but the cabin is very spacious, the seats are ergonomic and rationally structured, they are laid out and collected in a second. Winter conditions Silhouette is not terrible, heating is effective, it is well started on "cold", there is a defrosting of glasses. Production of the machine in large series will begin in the next couple of years. And Lada Silhouette, the price of which promises to be quite affordable, will stand in line with the best cars of our time.
