The drug "Berotek" (aerosol) is a bronchodilator. The active ingredient is fenoterol hydrobromide. The active substance has a relaxing effect on the smooth muscles of the bronchi, prevents the development of bronchospastic reactions associated with the effects of methacholine, histamine, allergens, cold air (immediate-type hypersensitivity reactions).

The effect on the functioning of the heart (including the increase in strength and heart rate) of fenoterol included in the drug "Berotek", the instruction for use explains the ability of the component to influence the vessels, stimulate beta2- (and when used in elevated doses of beta1-) adrenoreceptors of the heart . The most common side effect in such situations is a tremor.

The drug is prescribed for the prevention of bronchial asthma physical effort. "Berotek" for inhalations is indicated for preventing and arresting (eliminating) bronchospasm in the background of the abovementioned disease, as well as emphysema of the lungs, obstructive bronchitis.

Dosage regimen

One dose of Berotek medication is recommended for use in the treatment of asthma attacks. If necessary, after five minutes take another dose. The subsequent use of the medicine is allowed no less than three hours.

In bronchial asthma and other conditions, accompanied by a narrowing of the respiratory tract of reversible nature, one-two doses of the drug are recommended for the prevention of bronchospasm for one inhalation (one dose). The number of receptions should not exceed eight doses per day.

After a long break or before the first use, the vial with the drug should be shaken, and then press the valve twice.

When using the Berotek aerosol, the following recommendations should be observed:

1. Remove the cap.
2. Exhale (slowly, deeply).
3. Direct the bottom of the vial upward. Lips clasp the tip.
4. Deeply inhaling deeply, quickly press a finger on the bottom of the vial until one dose is released.
5. After holding your breath for a few seconds, take the tip out of your mouth. Slowly exhale.
6. To repeat the second dose, repeat the procedure.
7. To put on a cap.

The bottle "Berotek" is designed for two hundred inhalations. After that, the cylinder is replaced with a new one.

After use, the tip must be cleaned. Cautious washing in warm water is allowed.

When using the drug "Berotek" possible nervousness, headache, dizziness (especially in predisposed patients), small tremor, mental disorders.

In patients with risk factors, tachycardia or palpitations are likely. In rare cases (when using higher dosages), it is likely that diastolic depression and systolic pressure increase, arrhythmia.

In clinical practice, there were also cases of development of severe hypokalemia, increase in blood glucose concentrations. Some patients had coughing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, local irritation, vomiting, hives, seizures, muscle pains, weakness, increased sweating.

The drug "Berotek" is contraindicated in aortic stenosis, heart defects, tachyarrhythmia, diabetes mellitus (decompensated), hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, glaucoma, thyrotoxicosis, hypersensitivity.

No medication is given in the first trimester of the prenatal period, with a threatening abortion. In the remaining trimesters and lactation, the Berotek drug is administered on the advice and under the supervision of the doctor.

It is not recommended to use the drug in the syndrome of HPV (congenital anomaly of the heart structure) in connection with the risk of developing tachycardia attacks.
