Rabies in cats. Symptoms are manifested when treatment is no longer possible

Depending on how rabies develop in cats, three forms are distinguished: quiet, violent, atypical. For a quiet form, the following symptoms are typical: excessive salivation, inability to eat and drink water, paralysis. The death of an animal usually occurs on the 2-4th day.

Symptoms of violent form are very diverse and contradictory. First, the cat tries to hide in the darkest place, trying to hide from people. But it is possible and another behavior: the sick animal practically does not depart from the owner, constantly caresses and rubs about it. Then comes the stage of aggression: constant anxiety, sometimes frequent meowing, attempts to attack other animals or humans. And the periods can alternate. At this time, instead of the food that is habitual for themselves, cats are eaten by stones, chips and other inedible objects, and the habitual food is absorbed extremely reluctantly. An animal affected by a disease can not drink water - there is a hydrophobia, and then salivation. The cat constantly scratches the site of the lesion and this should alert the owner. Then there are convulsions, there comes a paralysis and the animal dies.

When developing atypical rabies in cats, the symptoms are more like the development of any intestinal infection and therefore the most difficult to diagnose. The cat is in a depressed state, although sometimes there are temporary improvements. An accurate diagnosis can be made only after the death of the animal due to the presence in the brain of the Babes-Negri calves.

Rabies in kittens is also quite possible. As a rule, the incubation period lasts no more than 5-7 days, then symptoms appear, the same as in adult cats, but everything happens much faster. To avoid such a very unpleasant situation as a rabies infection, it is necessary to carry out vaccination, following the recommendations of the veterinarian.

Such a deadly disease as rabies in cats, the symptoms are very eloquent, but when they appear, the animal will no longer be cured. Therefore, it is necessary to limit your pet's contacts with stray animals as far as possible and to vaccinate it in a timely manner.
