The creator of the "real detective" is novelist Nick Pizzolatto.

Nick grew up in the provincial town of Louisiana. Then he graduated from the university and began to be interested in literature. His first book, entitled Galveston, was bought by a small publishing house, and AMC even expressed a desire to film this story, suggesting that Nick adapt his novel to the script of the film.

Work as a writer Pizzolatto liked it, so he immediately began writing his second screensaver. A fascinating story about two detective-friends in the genre of neon-bought HBO, and Nick was appointed executive producer of the upcoming film. The script was already ready, only the right actor was needed for the main role.

Short story

The series "This Detective" is a story about two bosom friends-policemen, who have been serving in law enforcement agencies for many years and are investigating the most brutal murders.

The action takes place in the state of Louisiana. In the 95th, the detectives of Kart and Cole encounter an unusually cruel murder of a young woman in the forest. Later it turns out that she is a prostitute and anyone could do it. However, everything indicates that the murder was ritual. Detectives begin to "dig" in this direction and are convinced that the dead prostitute is not the only victim of a dangerous maniac. They find the "guilty" and put him in jail.

This investigation has to be returned after 17 years. Two older detectives are being interrogated, since the same murder occurred in the district, which means that the unbalanced killer is still at large. Map and Cole will have to forget old grievances to unite and correct mistakes made in the investigation.

This is the brief story of the first season. But there is also a second season, where events develop in a completely different scenario.

The main actor is a real detective performed by McConaughey

McConaughey began his career with comedies and romantic melodramas. A little later, he began to trust roles in dramas, thrillers and action films. But in the series Matthew McConaughey did not act even in the most difficult times.

The first work for the Hollywood actor in the movie was the picture "Under the buzz and confusion", where he appeared in the company of Ben Affleck and Milla Jovovich. Then there were such famous projects as "Wedding Planner", "How to Get Rid of a Guy in 10 Days", "Sahara" and others. For filming in the "Dallas club of buyers," Matthew received his first "Oscar".
