The deviation of the tongue in stroke

The deviation of a language is its deviation to the right or to the left of the middle line. If a healthy person is asked to stick his tongue out, he will easily do it, and he will be located exactly in the middle of the mouth. If the sublingual nerve somehow does not work correctly, then one can observe the deviation of the organ of speech.

It is the disorders in the functioning of the nervous system that lead to problems in the work of the muscles of the tongue, and sometimes the face. Most often, such changes occur due to brain diseases, for example, because of a stroke.

What is a stroke?

Stroke - a violation of the blood circulation of the brain, coupled with neurologic symptoms that do not go on for several months. This is a very serious disease, in which a quarter of cases are fatal. The same part of patients becomes first degree invalids. And some people who have had a stroke gradually return to normal life. However, this takes a very long time, because in most cases, patients need to learn how to move and talk anew. Often patients are confined to bed and can not take care of themselves on their own.

The deviation of the tongue in stroke is only one of the symptoms that can manifest. As a rule, cerebral hemorrhage greatly affects the neurotic state of the patient, and in addition to the deviation of the organ of speech, there may be atrophy of the facial muscles, the inability to move the limbs from one side, sometimes complete paralysis of the body or its separate parts. The deviation of the language in the CNMD leads to a serious violation of speech. Is it possible to completely rehabilitate, get rid of the disease and how to do it?

What are the causes of the deviation of the language?

Why does the deviation of the language go to the left? The reasons for this are rooted in neurology. Deviation can occur due to incorrect operation of the hyoid nerve. In this case, the muscles of the organ of speech on the left side become substantially weaker than those on the right. Therefore, when pushing the tongue from the oral cavity outwards, its displacement to the weaker side occurs. Similarly, the deviation of the language to the right occurs.

Also, deviation can appear due to unevenness of the face, when the facial muscles on one side are much stronger. In such cases, when the tongue protrudes, it will also move to one side. In some cases, this occurs quite unnoticeably, and sometimes the pathology is seen very well. However, the language itself functions normally, and its muscles on both sides have the same strength.

Diagnosis of the deviation of the tongue

It is not always easy to diagnose the presence of language deviation. But in most cases, the patient simply enough to stick it out. Seeing the deviation, the doctor can draw a conclusion about which side of the muscles is weaker. For example, if there is a deviation of the language to the right, the reasons lie in the fact that this area of the face is less strong.

However, the deviation is not always associated with brain diseases. Sometimes such deviations can be explained by the lack of development of facial muscles on one side.

To determine what the doctor is dealing with, the patient, as a rule, is asked to make a rapid movement of the tongue in both directions. In this case, it will be seen with what force these manipulations take place.

If such measures do not help, then the patient should be asked to press his tongue on both cheeks from the inside in turn. For example, the expert conducts the diagnosis of the right side. He checks the force of pressure with the help of the hand from the outside of the right cheek, trying to counteract the power of the tongue. In this case, the specialist will be able to assess how his muscles work, and to understand whether there is a deviation of the language to the right.

Treatment of the deviation of the tongue

It should be noted that deviation is not an independent disease, it is only a symptom that is manifested due to other diseases. Therefore, getting rid of such manifestations entirely depends on the treatment of the ailment that caused it. In case the cause is a stroke, which happens most often, it is necessary to eliminate violations of blood supply to the brain. As soon as this problem is eliminated, the nerves will return to normal, and, consequently, the symptoms associated with neurology will also be lost. If the matter is in facial muscles of the face, then it is necessary to consult a doctor and use special exercises to develop muscles that lag behind the other side.

Deviation of the child's language

Stroke or curvature of the muscles of the face - phenomena for the child are unprecedented, however children also face the deviation of the language. As a rule, the cause of this symptom is dysarthria or an erased dysarthria.

This disease is caused by a violation of the signal from the brain to the muscles of the articulatory apparatus. In this case, an incorrect nerve signal can be reflected both on the muscles of the child's face and in the tongue.

Not many children face this phenomenon. However, cases were fixed. Most of those suffering from such disorders appear to look like perfectly healthy children, and only a doctor is able to determine that the child has a dysarthria.

Symptoms of dysarthria in children

If there is a violation of the transmission of the nerve signal, the child's face becomes inactive and does not express any emotions with the help of facial expressions. The lips of the patient are often pinched, the corners are lowered down, a similar expression is preserved in the child almost constantly.

In severe cases, due to illness, the child can not close his mouth and keep the tongue in the mouth. Also, with dysarthria, the patient often has a deviation of the tongue. If you ask the baby to stick out the organ of speech, you can notice that it is difficult to keep it on the middle line to the child. The tongue shakes slightly and deviates to the side.

The difference between dysarthria and an erased dysarthria

As a rule, with dysarthria there is a pronounced lack of mobility of the face, which is very easy to see on the face of the child. Also, there are other signs, such as a lack of coordination in the movements of the hands and disorientation in space. Basically, children with dysarthria do not like drawing, molding from plasticine or any other activity requiring the use of fine motor skills.

However, there are more and more children who perfectly cope with all kinds of activities, like to draw and engage in creativity. At the same time they have a mobile facial expression, they smile a lot, laugh and are no different from a normal healthy child. The only thing that gives the presence of dysarthria is the deviation of the language. As a rule, in children suffering from this disease, the tongue is thick enough. If you ask the child to stick it out of his mouth, you can see that the tongue shakes and deviates to the side. The manifestation of such symptoms in medicine is called erased dysarthria.

Combines both diseases muffled speech. The child can lisp, swallow some sounds. At the same time, it is rather difficult to understand what the child is saying. The speech is extremely illegible and inarticulate.

How does dysarthria affect the child's psyche?

Basically, all children suffering from an erased or expressed dysarthria have unstable psyche. They are characterized by frequent changes in mood, throwing from extreme to extreme. The child can be, on the one hand, excessively vulnerable, constantly crying for trifles; on the other hand, it can become aggressive, rude to adults, and conflict with peers. Such children are rarely good students, as a rule, they are inattentive and do not understand the essence of education.

How to get rid of child's deviation?

In order to get rid of the deviation of the language in the child, complex treatment is absolutely necessary. Many parents believe that with an erased dysarthria, it will be enough to go to a speech therapist, which will help the child correctly pronounce the words. However the diagnosis in this case puts the neurologist and to appoint or nominate treatment too he should. As a rule, a child is prescribed not only lessons with a speech therapist and training correct pronunciation of sounds, but also a course of massage of the neck, collar zone and chin. Also often in therapy, a facial massage with hands and a probe massage of the tongue are used. To achieve the result with the help of any medication in this case is simply impossible, it is necessary to regularly influence the source of the nerve impulse.

Treatment of the deviation of language in both the adult and the child is primarily the treatment of a disease that caused the deviation of the tongue from the middle line. It is impossible to get rid of this problem without complex measures. Often, doctors recommend combining therapy aimed at the disease itself, as well as symptomatic treatment, which mainly includes massages and training. These measures will return the language and muscles of the face as soon as possible to a normal state. It is necessary to pay special attention to the deviation of the language in the child, since it is often possible to determine the presence of the disease only on this basis.

The main thing is timely treatment, because, otherwise, complications can develop. The most common are the development of inarticulate speech, difficulty in pronunciation of words, inability to pronounce any words (loss of speech).
