Treatment of Thyroid Cancer In Israel

Thyroid cancer, which is an important link in the chain of internal secretion organs, develops from its epithelial cells. The reason for the development of cancer can be a lack of iodine, exposure to radiation (radiotherapy of head and neck tumors, cellular accidents), a malfunction in the functioning of the immune system, the degeneration of uninfected Adenomas and cysts, multinodal goiter, heredity.

Common types of thyroid cancer:

- follicular - is formed in patients aged 50-60 years, grows slowly, but is a particularly dangerous form of cancer and forms metastases in the lymph nodes of the cervical region or in other parts of the body;

- papillary - is more often found at the age of 30-50 years, but it is also found in children, has slow growth and little remote metastases;

- anaplastic - occurs in people of retirement age who have nodular goiter, is characterized by rapid growth and aggressive course with an increase in metastatic formations in the lymph nodes of the neck and in other organs;

- medullary - is born at the age of 30-60 years due to genetically determined endocrine disorders. An important sign of thyroid cancer often reveals an increase in the thyroid or lymph nodes of the neck.

Later symptoms are a change in voice (hoarseness), difficulty in swallowing, sensation of pain in the throat or cervical region for a long time.

Among the diagnostic methods for detecting thyroid cancer in Israel are used: - physical diagnosis;

- Laryngoscopy;

- biochemical analysis and hormonal blood tests;

- scintigraphy with radioactive iodine (radioisotope scanning of the gland);

- ultrasound examination (ultrasound) of the thyroid gland;

- Positron emission and computed tomography (PEC-CT) of body organs.

The most correct method of confirming the diagnosis of "thyroid cancer" in Israel is biopsy with the analysis of the part of the gland epithelium for the presence of malignant cells. Tissue tissue is removed by fine needle biopsy under the supervision of ultrasound or surgical biopsy by removing the nodal foci or thyroid gland.

Treatment of thyroid cancer in Israel assumes a strictly personal approach, taking into account the histological nature of the tumor, its scale and malignancy, the age of the patient.

Types of treatment for oncology of the thyroid gland are surgery, radioactive iodine therapy, hormonal and radiotherapy, chemotherapy, most commonly used together.

In the early stages of thyroid cancer in Israel, operations that preserve organs are performed, for radical excision leads to a number of disorders in the body.

Resection or removal of the part of the body is often done using a gamma knife (x-ray beam burning), which does not touch the uninfected tissue of the organ.

With a strong spread of the focus, complete removal of the organ is performed, often with a complex of cervical lymph nodes, and with penetration of cancer into the larynx, resection is enhanced by the imposition of a respiratory tube (tracheostomy).

Widely used for the treatment of thyroid cancer in Israel, the effect on cancer cells with radioactive iodine by the oral administration of its drugs. The method is used, most often, after the operation to destroy the remaining tumor bodies.

Remote treatment of thyroid cancer in Israel by laser is usually used to treat thyroid cancer affected by metastatic formations in the bone.

Chemotherapy is mainly used when the other methods of treatment did not give a therapeutic effect. After complete excision of the thyroid gland in order to avoid hormonal breakdown, the patient undergoes hormonal replacement therapy.
