56 DSS - separate Guards landing-assault brigade: description, composition and interesting facts

In the town of Kamyshin, the Volgograd Region is home to the legendary 56th Independent Guards Airborne Assault Brigade. The military unit has two official addresses, among which on the lips are colloquial names: "red and gray roofs". Names went from the color of the main barracks, where the soldiers live 56 DShB.

Historical background

Formation arose in the distant 1943 and has a glorious history of the times of the Patriotic War. Particularly distinguished fighters in the liberation of Hungarian cities from the German invaders. Parts of the paratroopers took part in the famous Prague operation, crossing at the same time through the borders of Czechoslovakia.

The fighters were indispensable in Afghanistan, fulfilling the international duty. They also helped the infantry during the fighting in Chechnya. The permanent dislocation in Kamyshin was carried out in 1998.

It is interesting that the basis for forming the part is very impressive. On this site was located the famous KKVSKU - military higher educational institution, where officers were trained. The university, unfortunately, was disbanded, and the personnel was transferred to Togliatti and St. Petersburg.

The composition of part

After the Great Patriotic War, parts were withdrawn from Hungary and located near Budapest. Since 1946, the main place of deployment was the city of Tula, and part of it was part of the 38th Guards Airborne Corps Vienna. But already in 1953 the landing army was completely disbanded.

The personnel was accepted into the 137th Guards Parachute Regiment, located in Ryazan. The soldiers took part in helping the people of Tashkent after the earthquake, and also were the guarantor of security during the popular unrest.

Only in 1997 the 56th Airborne Assault Brigade was organized and relocated to the town of Kamyshin. Since 2010, part of the name of the Order of Kutuzov and the Order of the Patriotic War.

Purpose of part

The main purpose of the 56 DShB in Kamyshin is the formation of a military reserve of trained paratroopers ready to land in the combat zone. According to the decree of the Minister of Defense, to increase mobility, part is transferred to automotive equipment.

For the transfer of personnel, helicopters are assumed, the soldiers are deployed fully armed and equipped with parachutes. Military technology moves on its own. However, with the help of heavy-duty helicopters it is possible to transfer it from the air. To this end, regular exercises are conducted with monthly visits to the field.

The last large-scale tests were carried out in 2008, when the howitzers and GAZ cars were thrown from the air.

In 1999, soldiers on the Russian-Georgian border ensured the protection of Chechen lands. The paratroopers, having landed from the air, completely blocked the mountain passages and trails. The gangs in their attempts to bypass the fighters and strike from Georgia suffered a complete fiasco. Many soldiers were presented for awards, and basically paratroopers did not allow massive bloodshed on the border.

Three fighters of the 56 brigade of the DSB for heroism and courage displayed during the military action were awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.

Service today

To date 56 DSB is engaged in the training of soldiers on duty, also here it is held under contract. In addition to excellent physical training, which must have a paratrooper, the personnel is trained and other skills. To this end, regular visits to the training ground are conducted, where military exercises take place in the field, close to the military.

At this time, soldiers live in tents, food is done by own strength, with the help of field kitchen. For the time of trips a daily ration is issued. According to servicemen, the food is quite high-calorie, varied and tasty. Fighters cheer on holidays with chocolate, pastries and even shish kebab.

Most of the soldiers who served in Kamyshin are proud of being part of the Airborne Forces. 56 DSB prepares paratroopers, so the mandatory program includes skydiving. It assumes jumps from a helicopter and an airplane. Contractors who have completed the jumping program receive an additional payment to the monetary allowance.

Living conditions

For comfortable soldiers, comfortable barracks are provided. Recruits, passing the "course of the young fighter", are separated from the "old-timers" in order to avoid possible conflicts. Then they are united.

Soldiers are placed in the cabins, which are designed for four. The shower is located directly in the block or on the floor. The bathroom is located in each cockpit. The room is standard and has bunk beds, bedside tables, a wardrobe and a desk.

Meals are served in the dining room, where the cooks are civilian staff. For the convenience of soldiers in the territory of a small shop, however, according to reviews, the cost of products is slightly higher than in urban retail outlets.

Information for parents of conscripts

In the formation of parcels should be remembered that it is forbidden to put any medicines inside. At the inspection they will be taken anyway. However, according to the doctor's certificate, an inhaler is allowed. If necessary, in vitamins, they are taken to the medical office, and the soldier receives them from the doctor.

The phone can be left with the soldier, if he does not abuse it. Nobody will choose the means of communication, if you use it only in your spare time. It is recommended to write messages to the soldier, and to the extent possible, military personnel call their relatives themselves.

If the phone is taken away, its delivery takes place on a day off once a week. If a mobile phone is suspected of unauthorized use, the serviceman is summoned by the commander, and the communications facility is withdrawn until the end of the proceedings.

In the discharge of soldiers-conscripts can go on agreement with the commander only with the parents. Permission can get a legitimate wife. Walk with the girl will not work.

Oath

As in any part, 56 DSB holds a solemn oath of recruits. For the convenience of relatives, the event is timed to the weekend, in the morning hours.

After the oath, you can get a leave. If parents come from afar to the recruit, you can negotiate with the commander about the weekend, until Tuesday.
