The best works of the Soviet era: I.Ya. Stechkina. Pistol-legend

In the Soviet Union, since 1948, weapons have been developed under the supervision of design engineer I. Ya. Stechkin. The gun was later named in honor of the developer. And now, after several improvements, in 1951, this invention was finally approved for the shooting of bursts. It was intended for the arming of personnel - officers, sergeants and other soldiers of various units. This type of weapon was produced only in the USSR. All the specimens, as you might guess, were distinguished by high quality of production.

Outwardly, the weapon resembles a Makarov pistol. The same shutter casing, which covers the barrel, and on it is mounted a sight. Both have streamlined shapes. That's only the design they differed. The impact mechanism of the Stechkin pistol type. There is a helical spring and a curved rod, they are located behind the mechanism in the handle. The trigger is open. A flashing fuse is a fire mode switch. There is also a self-cocking mechanism that allows you to open fire without inserting a trigger. It is possible to maintain a continuous or single fire due to the trigger mechanism. The shooting range is two hundred meters. The automatic Stechkin pistol holds twenty cartridges, which are staggered, there is a two-row mechanism. The height of the pistol is fifteen centimeters, length - 22. 5 cm, and with a holster - 54. Weight with a magazine loaded - 1.22 kg, and without cartridges - 1.02. The caliber is nine millimeters, and the length of the trunk is 124. The pistol is completed with an additional wooden holster-butt. This is necessary for accurate long distance shooting.

The gun provided firepower and greater efficiency due to the length of the trunk and the large capacity of the magazine. The sound of the shot is much quieter than that of the PM. As mentioned above, the quality of the workmanship was at the highest level. However, with all this and Stechkin's pistol had its drawbacks. Because of the presence of the holster, it was heavy and bulky. Soldiers complained of large dimensions, insufficient power and inconvenience in wearing. Therefore, it was decided to remove the famous weapon of I. Ya. Stechkin from production. The pistol was not released since 1958. Nevertheless, despite the revealed shortcomings, it was recognized by special units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and is actively used by them to this day. And, for example, in Ukraine, this pistol is armed with employees of such special services as "ALPHA", "TITAN", etc.

Modifications

On the basis of the Stechkin pistol in the sixties, LS Nezhudov created weapons designed for silent shooting. The shutdown of the shot occurred By means of a nozzle with a separator. Also today, at the Molot plant (Kirov region), another modification of the "brainchild" of I. Ya. Stechkin was developed - the "Spider" pistol. Increased the power of the ammunition, the return spring and gas brake placed under the barrel. The pistol was intended for conducting a single fire. More recently, the German firm Transarms purchased a whole batch of these weapons for the district military commissariat.

Stechkin's pistol can be called a reliable, powerful and high-quality weapon. Its design is fascinating. Collectors are dreaming of him, you can even say - they are lusting. Who owns this gun is very lucky!
