Summary of "Maxim Maxychych." What is the head of the poem "The Hero of Our Time"?

Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov is an outstanding classic of the 19th century, who wrote many famous works. One of his most successful works is the poem "The Hero of Our Time". The whole work is divided into chapters, each of which is designed to reveal the character of the main character in as much detail as possible. This article presents a brief retelling of the chapter "Maxim Maksimych."

The narrative is conducted on behalf of the wandering officer. Evaluation of what is happening is given from outside, and not from the direct participant of events, which is a distinctive feature of the chapter "Maxim Maksimych." "Hero of Our Time" is a work in which several, completely different from each other, have come together.

Hotel

The narrator, after a short journey through the Caucasus Mountains, stops at a hotel run by three disabled people. The circumstances are such that he is forced to spend a few days here. The officer waits for the so-called "chance" (a cover consisting of a cannon and half of an infantry company guarding the convoys), and she, as luck would have it, is delayed.

On the second day of his dull stay in the hotel on the horizon, a cart is shown, from which the familiar storyteller, Maxim Maksimych, comes out. "Hero of Our Time" - a work in which there was a place and a genuinely positive hero. He is a retired staff captain, a simple and kind person. On his behalf, the story was narrated in the first chapter of the poem (Bela).

The officer suggests Maxim Maksimych to stay in his room, but that he does not hesitate to agree.

The narrator notes that he was very fortunate, as the captain was able to cook well, and after the meager food that was served in the hotel, Maximech's pheasant seemed especially tasty. All the rest of the time after dinner, the men were held in complete silence, since they had absolutely nothing to talk about.

The complete work gives a detailed description to each hero, however such details do not include a brief content.

Maksim Maksimych distinguishes from other characters such qualities as friendliness and sociability. They will turn out to be trampled on the protagonist of the poem.

Old good friend Pechorin

The prolonged silence interrupts the sound of the bells. In the courtyard there is a cart with people, followed by an empty stroller, similar to the foreign one. Behind her is a well-dressed footman, who has the manners of a spoiled servant. The officer and Maxim Maksimych asked him. From the conversation it becomes clear that the show has finally come, and the stroller belongs to Mr. Pechorin.

Headquarters captain with surprise and joy learns in the arrival of his friend, with whom they had to go through a lot. Maksim Maksimych can not wait to see him, but the servant says that Pechorin stayed the night with a friend of the colonel. The old captain can not hide his frustration and displeasure. He asks the waiter to tell the master that a captain is waiting for him in the hotel.

Waiting (summary)

Maxim Maksimych overcomes an unbearable desire to see each other. Throughout the evening the old captain finds himself no place. Every minute he waits for a cart to appear on the horizon, from which Pechorin will leave. However, his expectations are not to be fulfilled so soon. The narrator hardly manages to persuade Maxim Maksimych to go into the room and go to bed. He spends the whole night in unconcealed anxiety.

Long-awaited guest

In the morning the staff captain is forced to go to the commandant for business, but he urges the narrator to call him at the first appearance of Pechorin. After a while, he finally appears and immediately gives the order to prepare for the departure.

Portrait of Pechorin

The narrator describes the appearance of the protagonist. It turns out that this is a man of strong constitution and medium height. Very neat, with aristocratic manners. The officer notes some features of the walk of Pechorin: he does not wave his hands while walking, which indicates the secrecy of his character. Sitting, Pechorin very much slouches, creates the feeling that he has not a single vertebra in his back. The skin of the hero is white and tender, like a woman, which speaks of a noble origin. In addition, the narrator notes blond hair and black as pitch, eyebrows and mustaches, which indicates the breed. In a word, Pechorin has an attractive appearance and, undoubtedly, is popular with women. He has a high forehead with traces of wrinkles, which do not spoil his attractiveness. In conclusion, the narrator notes white teeth, deep brown eyes that never smile, even if their master laughs, and curly hair. Pechorin's view of one may seem sad, and the other - evil.

The narrator presents this portrait to the attention of the reader. You will find in the article only its brief content. Maxim Maksimych does not describe the officer in such detail.

A meeting

Everything is ready to leave, when suddenly the out of breath captain-captain. Pechorin meets him rather coldly, which causes some perplexity of the old man. It turns out that he is on his way to Persia and does not intend to stay here. Maxim Maksimych tries to get his old friend out to talk, but he does not go in for contact and only gets rid of general phrases. On the question of what to do with the records, which the captain carefully kept all this time, Pechorin casually waves and leaves.

Parting

The narrator asks Maksim Maksimych to give him Pechorin's notes. The exasperated staff captain angrily throws papers on the ground, and the officer quickly collects everything and carries it to himself, without waiting for the old man to change his mind.

To give away all the bitterness and sadness experienced by the old captain, no brief content is possible. Maxima Maksimych suffocated with anger and a sense of uselessness.

After a while it's time to leave, but the captain does not go with the officer. On the question of why he remains, he answers that it is necessary to settle some business with the commandant. It is evident that the old captain is angry, and the officer sympathizes with him to some extent. He understands that the dashed veil that covered the eyes of the captain, in his year is no longer a substitute for anything.

The officer leaves alone. In conclusion, I would like to note that the chapter "Maxim Maksimych" is very interesting in full content, we can learn more about many of the events taking place in the poem.
