Homogeneous sentence members are the basis of beautiful and correct written speech

Homogeneous members of a sentence are any members of a design that have the following characteristics:

1) obey one word in the sentence;

2) answer the same questions;

3) speak out with enumerative intonation;

4) communicate with each other by means of a coherent connection ;

5) in the sentence are emphasized equally, being the same member.

Homogeneous members of the sentence are attached to each other by conjunctions (compositional , separative, adversative) and by the intonation of enumeration. If the unions are absent or simply repeated, they are bound only by intonation.

We must not forget that homogeneous members can not always be words expressed in one part of speech, the main thing is that they obey one member in the sentence and answer the same questions.

Homogeneous members of the sentence are used without any unions (communication is carried out by means of enumerative intonation and a connecting pause), and with single unions (communication is carried out through intonation and conjunctions), and with repeated alliances (communication with one another through intonation and conjunctions), and with double Unions (intonation and union).

Depending on what connects them to each other, punctuation marks with homogeneous terms are arranged as follows.

1) A comma is needed:

  • There is no union. In the forest, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries ripened.
  • There are opposing unions between words: a, but, yes [= but], but, however. Suddenly a cloud with a small but frequent rain fell.
  • Double alliances are used. He was able not only to sing, but also to dance.
  • There is a union of "yes and" in the meaning of the addition. Dasha loved to draw, and paint too.

2) A comma is inadmissible:

  • Are united by separating unions "either", "or", and also by connecting unions "and", "yes [= and]". Lera or Masha will sing, Kolya or Stas - to dance.
  • There are phraseological turns. She offended me for nothing.

Why are homogeneous members of the proposal needed? This question very often arises, perhaps, practically in anyone who at least once faced with homogeneous members and had some problem with their distinction on the letter. First of all, they are needed not only to diversify our speech, but also to make it and our letter much richer and more beautiful.
