Green leafy vegetables are stored in boxes or baskets, while the vegetables are laid tightly to each other. Tomatoes and cucumbers, peppers put in boxes and store at the same temperature for about two or less weeks. If you want to keep these types of vegetables longer, we recommend marinating them or salting them, that is, carrying out any heat treatment.

Zucchini and squash are wrapped in paper, and they are perfectly preserved throughout the winter at room temperature. Of these, you can also make different types of blanks with the addition of other vegetables.

Storage of vegetables, in particular potatoes, requires additional preparation, in contrast to other types of products. Early varieties of potatoes should be stored in plastic bags in the basement or pit, it is packaged in ten or twenty kilograms and neatly stacked in boxes. Potatoes and carrots, beets, must be stored in a place inaccessible to sunlight, otherwise they will not be suitable for food. Roots that were planted in the summer are cleaned as soon as the first frosts start, after freezing the vegetables are put in boxes or sacks and placed in a pit.

The storage temperature of potatoes should not fluctuate, otherwise it will simply deteriorate (rot) or vice versa - it will germinate, the optimum temperature is from one to four degrees. Ventilation is also one of the main points. Storage of vegetables should be carried out at high humidity, and that on vegetables there was no moisture, good ventilation is simply necessary. Only thanks to it you can keep root vegetables throughout the winter. The storage conditions for potatoes are different from the storage conditions of other vegetables, so it is important to study this issue in more detail and to be more responsible in preparing this vegetable for storage, if you want to enjoy the fruits of your labor all winter, and not to spend money for purchase.

Cabbage is stored under the same conditions as potatoes, but it is pre-wrapped in several layers of the newspaper, so it is preserved throughout the winter period, although sometimes it needs to unfold, remove rotten leaves and wrap in new layers of paper, although cabbage will deteriorate - also depends on the quality of ventilation of the room. If it is sufficient and the room temperature is appropriate, then practically all vegetables and fruits can be stored for a long time.

Vegetable storage is a long process, if properly organized, no problems should arise. Well, if you care about this issue negligently, then it's surprising that your vegetables and fruits suddenly deteriorated and even not worth it. Therefore, before harvesting, think about where and how you will store it. It is important to remember that some types of fruits and vegetables can not be stored together, so it is necessary to prepare several rooms for this purpose or create all conditions. Those products that can not be stored in their original form without processing can be processed and frozen, or dried, pickled, salted or picked up by other processing methods.
