How to level the wooden floors: the features of the process

If you want to lay a new laminate or parquet, you should know how to level the wooden floors. The advantage of such a basis is that it is environmentally friendly, it keeps the heat well. Before you begin the alignment procedure, you should carefully check the surface with a long level and determine the height of the differences. All results must be recorded.

If the difference is large (at least 3-5 mm), then it is necessary to work on leveling the floor. This can be done with a bark, plywood, gypsum board or other sheet materials. Before leveling the wooden floors, try to remove all notches, mounds and crevices on the ground. This can be done with a putty.

Next, you can begin to lay the sheet materials, for example, OSB, chipboard or plywood. Naturally, on the sexual basis it is necessary to build a crate of bars. It should be constructed using a level. Between the slats you can lay a heater (expanded clay or cotton wool). Then nail the plywood or chipboard to the crate. And make sure that the joints of the material are on the slats. To do this, you first have to simply decompose the material.

As you can level the wooden floors yourself, you should approach this procedure responsibly. All holes that are left of nails or screws, should be covered with putty. The further actions depend on what kind of floor covering will be used. In any case, the joints will need to be gently ground and sanded with sandpaper.

Before leveling the wooden floors, it is necessary to determine the type of flooring. The fact is that under the laminate you will additionally have to lay the substrate on the substrate. In addition to chipboard and plywood for leveling, you can use special self-leveling compounds. They were created specifically for wood foundations. Due to it, it is possible to eliminate the differences, up to 2 cm. However, before pouring the mixture it is necessary to carefully evaluate the condition of the boards and to firmly fix those elements that are unsteady. In this way, you can align the wooden floor with linoleum. And in order for the surface to not crack with time, it is necessary to strengthen the solution with a reinforcing mesh.

During alignment, it is necessary to replace those elements that have already rotted or broken. In addition, the floor should be sanded and covered with antiseptic. There are cases when the base surface has a very small difference, which, however, can interfere with the normal laying of the finishing material. For example, in order to level the wooden floor under the laminate, you can use a sewing machine. Essentially it can not fix the surface level, but will remove the old coating layer and make it clean. If the base swings are large, then the above materials should be used for alignment. In principle, these are all the features of the procedure.
