In the Middle Ages, knights served noble noblemen and the king himself. During wars, they had to fight courageously and honorably defend the borders of their kingdom. Each knight tried to win honorable fame and fame with brave deeds. Because they were loved, they are still admired by contemporaries.

Artists of all time and people wrote portraits of heroes in armor, do you want to try and you? Based on the illustrated instruction, you not only learn how to draw a knight, but in a few minutes you will proudly show your own work.

Before You Begin

Take a sheet of good heavy paper (for example, whatman or for drawings). Prepare a hard-soft graphite pencil, or even better - coal (sold in specialized stores), quality eraser, ruler and templates (optional).

Carefully review the sample. Here's roughly what you should get:

Step 1

How to draw a knight? Any drawing must begin with a sketch. This is what he has to do now.

The sketch is an outline of simple lines known to each child: ovals and segments.

It may seem that this is the simplest step of the lesson "How to draw a knight in a pencil". But be careful, from how you execute this simple blueprint, the fate of the final result depends. It is in him that the success of the drawing lies - that is the secret! The main thing is to observe the proportions, not straight lines.

With light movements of the hand, outline the ellipses as shown in the figure, and draw a few fine lines from them:

Step 2

Add just a few smooth curved strokes, rounding sharp corners, and ... oh, a miracle! The rider already clearly appears on the sheet:

Do not be confused by the child's schematic image. The main thing is to know why this is done and how. It's very easy to draw a knight on a horse! The most common ovals drawn on the site of the limbs, in the future will help to give the outlines of the arms and legs a muscular volume.

Step 3

It was the turn of the most pleasant, but painstaking work - the drawing of small details.

You already guessed what to do next, how to draw a knight. It is good, if the views coincide with the provisions of the lesson.

Erase everything, now useless, auxiliary lines, especially straight lines. Work through each element. The best thing to do is a finely honed pencil. Draw the details of the brush and sharp sword, "put" the shield in the other hand of the valiant warrior. Give the ferocity of his faithful horse, display the tail.

Emphasize the helmet, breast armor, tunic and leg. Add details to equestrian "uniforms": draw a bridle, a saddle and a blanket. On the coverlet draw a checkered pattern, shade the legs of the horse and hooves.

Tip

Before proceeding to the final stage of the lesson "How to draw a knight," imagine that the sun shines brightly. With this in mind, consider the layout of the most illuminated areas, which should remain unpainted. The presence of shadows and white spots will give the image a delightful volume.

Step 4

The magic phase of the game of shadows and light! To give the volume and texture to the image, you need to apply the shadows correctly along the edges of the contours, using a different direction and pressure on the pencil.

Leave a "blank" around the sword as shown on the sample, which will highlight the foreground. Do not forget about the lighting, imagine where, in your opinion, the sun's rays fall. The most convex parts should remain unshaded, while the most "drowned", on the contrary, most need to be shaded.

Do not forget about the soil: under the hooves of a mighty horse there must be a shadow, otherwise the characters of the plot will simply hang in space.

To complete the picture, sketch the lock sketch in the background.

The long-awaited image of a medieval warrior in front of you!
