Spartakiada is a cultural and mass event of a sporting nature. It appeared in the socialist states of the twentieth century. Today it is held in the territory of the post-Soviet countries. Spartakiada is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle, popularize sports, give an opportunity to compete athletes. There are several types of such events.

History

Spartakiada Games are competitions in the first place of the socialist countries. The very concept appeared in the twenties in Germany. Among the leftist activists, the image of the gladiator of Spartacus, who raised a slave revolt in Ancient Rome, was popular. In his honor competitions were named. They passed exclusively between representatives of the communist and socialist parties. Then such a definition became popular in the Soviet Union.

In the twenties the Olympic movement fell into decay. At the games of the twenty-fourth year there were no athletes from Germany and its allied countries in the First World War. In addition, representatives of the RSFSR were not invited. Officially, the International Olympic Committee justified this by not recognizing the new regime in Russia. In response, the Soviet Ministry has already announced the boycott of the Games itself. In response, the country hosted the Games. This movement developed by analogy with the Olympic. It was believed that competitions of the working class should be held separately from bourgeois shows. This idea suited pro-Communist sports clubs all over the world.

Organization

Spartakiada is held in a variety of categories. It can compete with the workers of one plant, pupils of the same school, the military, and so on.
