Sestroretsk Rift: history, depth, beaches

How nice it is on a hot summer day to go on holiday to a pond. Water, sun and beach - what could be better than this? The main thing is to find a good place for rest. It is to such reservoirs that the Sestroretsk Rift falls.

How did it come about?

Sestroretsk Spill is not a natural water body. This is an artificial reservoir of large dimensions. It was created approximately 300 years ago. This happened by way of damming the Sister River and the Black River.

It is worth noting that the Sestroretsk Rift is one of the oldest reservoirs. Not so long ago it was classified as a number of heritage sites of the city of St. Petersburg.

The total area of the Sestroretsk Reservoir is 12.2 km ² . It was created during the reign of Peter the Great. The average depth of the reservoir is 1.6 meters. At the same time, this indicator varies from 0.9 meters to 5.5 meters. In some cases, the depth of the Sestroretsk Spill can be 9 meters. At the same time, there is a flooding of nearby marshes, as well as some streets of Sestroretsk. At the moment, the maximum depth of the reservoir is maintained at a level of 7.8 to 8.3 meters. A good place for fishing and recreation

In the summer, many reservoirs are not interested as a cultural monument, but as an excellent place for recreation and fishing. However, officially, water is considered unsuitable for bathing today. Residents of St. Petersburg have been visiting the beaches of the Sestroretsk Razliya for several decades. It is much cleaner here than in the Gulf of Finland. As for fishing, it is still fish here. Although over the years, the water was heavily polluted. Fishermen near the dam with the beginning of spring get smelt. In the lake itself you can see the houses of the muskrat. They are located closer to the Sestroretsk marsh. This natural area has been under protection since 2008.

Lake Sestroretsk Razliv has a very valuable cultural monument - Lenin's hut. It is located in the southeast. It was here that the leader of the proletariat hid from the representatives of the government. Now it is a well-protected museum, as well as a cult place.

Sestroretsk Rift: the beach

There are several beaches on the lake. Some of them use holidaymakers, and some of them are surfers. On the west are high dunes. However, the beach itself is very shallow. There is no such thing on the south bank. However, there is not so windy and equipped with a nice beach. There are several of them:

White Mountain Beach

Sestroretsky Spillway, the photo of which is presented above, attracts tourists with landscaped beaches. The most popular of them is the "White Mountain". It was not so long ago officially recognized and landscaped accordingly. The beach is in excellent condition. "White Mountain" is equipped with toilets, benches and booths where you can change clothes. On the beach there is no other infrastructure. However, it is regularly cleaned of debris. Thanks to maintaining the order, the beach remains popular and pleasant for recreation. In addition, in this place of the shore and the bottom of the reservoir are sandy. The site itself is small. However, behind it is a sand dune, which is the main place for holidaymakers.

The Officers Beach

The depths of the Sestroretsk Spill have not been fully examined by anyone. The reservoir is very large. On its shores there are many beaches. Some of them are equipped, and some are not. The beach, which is in Tarhovka, is called "Officers". Very close to the sanatorium. The beach "Ofitsersky" is considered to be the very first beach that was opened on the shore of the Sestroretsk spill. Basically it serves for rest of those who came to the sanatorium. Anyone can come to him. The beach is considered the calmest and quietest. As for the infrastructure, it is practically not there.

The North Beach

This beach has one more name - "Children's". It is located at the extreme point of the Sestroretsk Spill. Its name was given to the beach by the gently sloping entrance to the lake. The depth here is small. Because of this, the water near the shores of this beach is always warm. People often come here with their children.

The main plus of the "Severny" beach is the developed infrastructure. There is a rental of boats and sports equipment, a small restaurant with rooms, a children's playground.

Other beaches

No less popular is the beach "Green Mountain". It is also landscaped. There is a private parking, cabins for changing clothes. The beach itself is sandy. In addition, rescuers are constantly on duty here.

Another small beach is called "New". It is practically not equipped. There are only cabins for changing clothes, as well as a children's corner. The main advantage of this beach is the trees that surround it. In the summer heat they allow holidaymakers to hide in the shade.

How to get to the Sestroretsk Spill?

Sestroretskits Rift is quite a popular place. Therefore, to get to its beaches is not so difficult. To do this, you can take the train to the station "Razliv". She walks from the New and Old Village, as well as from the Finland Station. From the railway station you will have to walk. The journey takes no more than 10 minutes.
