It was here that a lot of films were shot, such as "Amphibian Man", "3 + 2", "Pirates of the XX Century", "Sportloto-82", "Solitary Swimming", "Treasure Island", etc.

Today you can go on a journey to places and paths where heroes of films once walked.

Prince Golitsyn

What associations do you call the "New World"? Someone associates it with America and Columbus who discovered it. However, for Crimeans and residents of this region the New World is also a picturesque resort village located near Sudak. He is associated with the personality of Lev Golitsyn, the Russian prince. Another association is a wonderful champagne.

The key figure that equipped the New World is Golitsyn Lev Sergeyevich, also known as the founder of the Russian wine tradition in the Crimea and the founder of the industrial production of high-quality champagne in Russia. Prince Golitsyn New World owes much. For example, the main part of its attractions. A worthy place among them is by right the Golitsyn trail - a complex that has been preserved since the time of this prince.

Famous people who walked along the Golitsyn trail

This complex was conceived and built in the late 19th century by the owner of the estate. The Golitsyn trail (Novy Svet) is famous for the fact that many respected and high-ranking guests of Golitsyn passed along it: Counts and princes Gagarins, Trubetskoe, Mordvinovs, Gorchakovs, theologians and priests, painter I. Bilibin. And in 1912 part of it, located near cape Kapchik, was passed by Nicholas II himself, the last Russian emperor.

Construction of the Golitsyn trail

Golitsyn trail is a route on which you will find staircases, species platforms, as well as the crooked grottoes created by nature and Golitsyno. For safety on steep areas stone parapets are arranged. In such places are observation platforms, from where to admire the mountain and seascapes is most convenient.

Golitsyn trail in the Crimea in some areas is cut at an altitude of 20 m above sea level in the rocky ground. It was built by Turkish workers. In the most dangerous areas, they cut through this path, being in "cradles", suspended on ropes. There was a case when the storm raged on the sea, and the workers at the top hung in the "cradles" in a strong wind. It was not possible to put them on boats. So they spent 2 days over the raging sea. They were fed food and water on the ropes from the mountain.

Golitsyn grotto

You probably wonder how long the Golitsyn trail has. Its length is 5470 meters. Part of this trail stretches along the coast for 2 km. Begins Golitsyn trail on the outskirts of the New World, near the bay of Zelenoy. Then it passes at the foot of the city of Koba-Kaya (its modern name is Orel) and takes travelers to Golitsynsky grotto. Here in the Middle Ages was a cave Christian monastery. The remains of the frescoes, preserved until the 19th century, testify to this. Golitsyn Lev Sergeevich at the end of the 19th century built his own vinotheque here. Fenced off the wall part of the grotto. A massive door closed the entrance to this room. The height of this grotto is from five meters (inside) to eight (outside), and the width and length are about seven meters. The mountain name Koba-Kaya (in the photo below) was due to the grotto, as it is translated as "cave rock".

Entrance here under Prince Leo Golitsyn was partitioned into a stone wall, today almost completely destroyed. Only a small part of it has survived. Inside there is a well, where you can drink spring water. A metal hook for the lamp is hammered into the ceiling above the well. Once upon a time hung a huge chandelier, illuminating the grotto. However, the visitors are particularly impressed by the 2 walls of the vinotheque, each of which has 45 niches. In their time bottled wine was kept. In 5 tiers there are these niches with an arch vault.

Near the vinotheque you can find a scene with a polycircle niche and a platform. Gorgeous acoustics have this grotto. The second name is well known to tourists - Shalyapin's grotto. From this scene, according to popular legend, once sang Feodor Ivanovich Chaliapin, the great Russian singer, covering his powerful voice with the sound of sea waves. However, according to historical information, Chaliapin never visited the New World. Nevertheless, this legend lives and is preserved in an unofficial name. Today, there are "Golitsyn Meetings" - special musical events with fireworks and, of course, champagne.

In the sea, under the vaults of this grotto, you can see a huge block that once fell from the "ceiling". This is the stone "Turtle". A through tunnel is under it.

Cape Flat and Blue Bay

Further, after leaving the Golitsyn grotto, the road rises smoothly to Cape Plosky, after which the Golitsyn trail descends again to the Blue Bay. Tour of it on a hot summer day is accompanied by bathing in this bay. There is a shallow sea, but the water is usually clear and clean. You can use the services of "sea taxi" in the summer, when you are tired of walking along such picturesque corner of nature as Golitsyn trail. Sudak or the New World - a place where you can return from here on a boat. The blue bay (in the photo below) was called Razboynichy because the pirates hid their trophies in these caves. They were allowed to remain unnoticed by piles of stones. Golitsyn trail, following along the coast of this bay, skirts the city of Koba-Kaya. A lot of staircases with handrails and bridges are located on this site, on which it is easy to walk.

What is interesting about Mount Hoba-Kai?

Under the southern cliffs of Mount Hoba-Kai you will find a world of gloomy gorges, blocky chaos and cyclopean stairs knocked out in the rock. You can see in the cliffs petrified remains of corals, which are about 150 million years old, as well as algae and sea urchins - inhabitants of the Jurassic ocean.

Cape Kapchik and Tsarsky beach

After that you can make the last ascent to Cape Kapchik on a stony staircase. It is located between the Blue and the Blue Coves. The famous Tsar's beach is located on the shore of the bay Blue. It got its name in 1912, after Nicholas II visited here.

In good weather, Ayudag mountain is visible from here, as well as the mountains of the Southern coast of Crimea. This cape deep into the sea and forms along with other rocks the coast of a prehistoric lizard or fairy dragon floating in the sea.

Through grotto

The Kapchik crosses the Through Grotto from Blue Bay to the Bay of Blue. About 77 meters is the length of this natural cave, which was formed here due to a tectonic fault. In the formation of Skvoznoy, unlike many other Crimean caves, groundwater did not participate. Wedge-shaped profile and deep cracks of it indicate that the underground gallery appeared as a result of a perfect uneven over several faults in the limestones of the cape Kapchik. The same cracks can be found in the form of clefts in the town of Karaul-Oba. Clumps of limestone, detached from the floor, are lying on the bottom of the gallery. However, the fault to the elongated form of this cape has nothing to do with. It is not an elongated limestone section, nominated by ruptures in the sea, but a reef building that was built up of massive, strong limestones. It was used at Golitsyn as a banquet hall. The prince built here an arched entrance with a wooden door forged under the antiquity, stone staircases along which you can descend to the sea, stained-glass windows. Now you can get to the grotto from the side of the Blue Bay, if you walk along the fenced path by a fenced parapet. The cave was opened a few years ago, and it was possible to get inside, of course, provided that you are not afraid of bats. At present, unfortunately, the grotto is closed to tourists after an accident that occurred in it. A lattice is installed, and one can only look inside through it. In addition to the Through Grotto, Kapchik also has several other caves, smaller ones.

Juniper Grove

What else is interesting about the Golitsyn trail? You can return from Cape Kapchik to the New World by a short road through a juniper grove. It is a living monument of ancient geological epochs. The grove is a backward cover of ancient vegetation covered in the Cenozoic era. The Cenozoic era lasted 60 million years . These forests saw cave bears, saber-toothed tigers, mammoths ... The Golitsyn trail (Novy Svet) is a place in the Crimea, near which remains of animals extinct long ago are found. Bones of the mammoth were first discovered in the last century very near here - near the village of Solnechnogorskoe, in the valley of the river Sotera. The offensive of glaciers began in the Quaternary period. The heat-loving vegetation perished everywhere and only stayed in the south, since the glacier did not get there. It is in the vicinity of the New World that the largest in the Crimea juniper grove (470 hectares). Several species of juniper grow here, as well as the Sudak and Crimean Pine (Pallas). Sudakskaya is found only in the Crimea, at Cape Aya and in Sudak. It was first studied by VN Stankevich, a young botanist, in the early 20th century. In 1906, in honor of him, she was named Academician Sukachev Pine Stankevich.

Mount Karaul-Oba

This mountain protects from the west juniper groves and bays of the New World. Climbing its summit, you will understand where its name originated. The entire coast, from Cape Meganom to the Ayu-Dag mountain, can be seen from here. You can admire the scenery, sitting in the "Golitsyn chair", carved out of stone. In front of you will be the amphitheater of the New World, and also located at the foot of three colorful bays: Green, Blue and Blue.

What attracts tourists Golitsyno trail, a photo of which is presented in this article? The square rooms that surround the straight walls of the rocks are located under the Karaul-Oba mountain. Ahead is the "Adam's bed". This narrow gorge, which is covered with ivy. Behind the "Adam's bed" is a ladder in the rock. In the New World, all stone stairs were built by Golitsyn. However, this, most likely, was built still by brands, and the prince only refurbished it. You will get here in the gorge: a cozy "Paradise" and wild "Hell". Going down from the Karaul-Oba, you will find yourself on the "Royal Beach". This mountain is also very interesting from a historical point of view. Above the 70-meter cliff on the western spur there are remains of dwellings and walls of an ancient fortress, which was built by King Asander (Bosporus). Here, in addition, there is a parking lot of the Taurus.
