Self-leveling compounds - smooth floor without worries

How often tenants of modern apartments notice the unevenness of the floor! Every now and then, under the legs of the furniture, you need to put something in order to expose it to the level, bulges and cracks appear on the linoleum. Therefore, even with cosmetic repairs, there is a need to level the floors. However, in such a case, it is not possible to make a concrete screed with observance of the technology. Yes, and this requires certain skills. A good help to non-professionals in self- leveling the floors are self-leveling mixtures. They allow their hands to easily and quickly achieve a smooth and smooth surface of the floor without joints. In addition, their obvious advantage is that it is possible to smooth out the roughness of the floor to a few centimeters with them, and also that all the self-leveling mixtures are fluid, and therefore they are easy to apply to the floor base. But there are a number of disadvantages, among which is the inability to use them in rooms where it is necessary to make a screed with a slope for drainage (garage, sauna, shower) due to fluidity. In addition, self-leveling floor mixes have a very high flow rate on uneven areas.

To make the final decision and begin to level the floors with these mixtures, it is important to make sure that the difference in heights of errors and unevenness on the floor does not exceed two centimeters. On the surface there should be no cracks, or they must be pre-sealed. Directly before the casting, the whole surface of the floor must be primed thoroughly, which will be leveled. It is also necessary to make skirts, remove all the cracks and holes through which self-leveling mixtures can leak into other rooms.

Do not start working with the mixture, without first reading the instructions to it. It says in detail how much water is needed, what the consumption of the mixture is for 1 m 2 , etc. Most often, the consumption of the composition with a layer thickness of 1 mm is 1.5 kg per 1 m 2 . Some self-leveling mixtures do not allow the use of more water than indicated on the package. Therefore, self-activity should be avoided. It is not necessarily easier to work with a more liquid solution. On the contrary, he can only spoil everything. In addition, the mandatory step in pouring the floor is the priming of the surface. Thanks to this, the pouring will be stronger with the screed. Also, a special primer will protect the floor from the appearance of fungus and mold. If the priming composition is not at hand, and the premise is dry and not too large, a highly diluted water self-leveling mixture can be used to prepare the surface.

The entire process of pouring lasts no more than 40 minutes. During the allotted time, it is necessary to make a knead, pour it on the surface, help it to level out and "drive" bubbles out of it with a needle roller. Self-leveling floor mixes should be spread evenly over the surface with a spatula or roller on a long handle. So you need to act after each kneading and pouring out the solution, and gradually the whole floor will be ready. Usually one bag leaves one bag, but, of course, everything depends on the weight of the bag and the bucket volume. In addition, the area poured in one batch, depends on the relief of the floor and the thickness of the pouring. For example, for a room of 18 m 2 with a pouring thickness of not more than 5 mm, 4 kneading (a bag weighing 25 kg) is necessary.
