Rubber stick: characteristics and types

Often, he who is called to ensure order, he himself becomes the object of attack. With the increase in the growth of crime, such cases became more frequent with respect to the ATS and the penitentiary system. To confront the intruders workers of security companies, penitentiary system and police are equipped with such effective special means as a stick. The modern rubber model of this weapon, which can often be seen in the hands of security and law enforcement agencies, has its own history, which dates back to 1881.

The first special means of the XIX-XX century

In 1881, the lower ranks of the St. Petersburg police used checkers to restore order. On May 20 of the same year, the Minister of the Interior in his report "On Arming the Lower Police St Petersburg" was asked to replace dragoon drafts with wooden sticks.

At that time, a baton was widely practiced in police detachments of France and England. Taking the experience of the work of the city police of these states, Tsarist Russia preferred stacks, which, according to their purpose and the way they are used, are close to clubs. Stacks were used by cavalrymen, both to restore order and to control the horse.

Soon the checkers were replaced, but not with sticks, but with army sabers, which provided protection for the hands. In Russia, the issue of the introduction of wooden poles was not resolved until 1917. Historians attribute this to the excessive activity and self-arming of the masses, which are characteristic of pre-revolutionary times. The authorities used the army units to subdue the rebels, who were well armed and did not need sticks.

1962: USSR

In a totalitarian state there was no need to arm militia detachments. In the period that is called: "Thaw", the activity of criminal elements has significantly increased. With a view to adequately resist it - to protect the interests and personal rights of citizens in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RSFSR - the Soviet police since 1962 equipped with special equipment such as handcuffs and a rubber stick.

Their use was legalized and defined by special instructions. The use of rubber sticks was allowed against criminals, hooligans and other persons who violate public order. Curbing the riot and other illegal actions, police officers did not have the right to beat a rubber baton in the head or face. It was forbidden to use a rubber stick in the police station and when working with certain categories of criminals and violators: women, children, the elderly and disabled.

Force action

Rubber stick is designed to force an attacker to obey the demand of a police officer. Skillfully handling a stick, a law enforcement agent may not use firearms to solve many incidents. Especially in an environment where the use of a gun is undesirable. In such situations, the violator is threatened by force superiority, and not the threat of death.

What is PR?

Today, rubber guard sticks, police and special forces are represented in the form of various models and modifications. For their production, a rubber compound is used. They are made in special molds by vulcanization. One of the characteristic features of modern products, distinguishing them from wooden analogs, is considered to be elasticity, which is achieved due to the embedded elastic element with a length of 38 cm and the presence of a knot.

PR-73: Description

Among the large variety of special means since 1973, the rubber baton 73 has become very popular. It is a product consisting of:

  • From the holder - a comfortable and rigid handle.
  • Temljak, or a leather loop, necessary for fixation and relaxation of the brush. This makes it possible to carry out shock and protective actions. The chrome-plated loop is made of nylon or leather. The width is 10 mm. Acceptable length allows you to adjust the loop on the arm.
  • Flexible impactor, due to which this stick, in contrast to the usual, at swinging gets additional acceleration in the last phase of impact. In this case, the gain is achieved in both speed and strength.
  • Rubber cane weighs 73 g.
  • The size: 650 mm.
  • Diameter: 32 mm.

In what situations is it used?

Using a stick rubber PR-73 is carried out:

  • In prisons and pre-trial detention centers. In order to prevent an attack, employees of the penitentiary system have the right to use this special means in relation to suspects, accused and convicted persons. Strikes with a rubber stick are legalized for mass riots and group violations of the regime by prisoners under investigation and convicted. Allowed the use of special means in cases of disobedience to correctional staff and attempts to escape.

  • To stop the escape when escorting a detainee, suspect or convicted.
  • When releasing the hostages.
  • During the dispersal of protesters at unauthorized rallies.
  • During the storming of law enforcement special divisions of buildings and vehicles.

The advantage of rubber sticks is the absence on the human body after the use of this special means of serious injuries. This is possible in cases where the use of PR meets all the requirements established by law.

How to wear the PR-73?

To wear this special means are provided special belts with fitted fasteners in the form of rings for rubber sticks. On the one hand, a firearm is entrusted to a law enforcement officer on the belt, and a rubber stick is placed on the opposite side.

In which position is the PR-73 used?

The effectiveness of using a rubber stick depends on the right post during a conflict. Conduct an attacking action, counterattack, a change of distance is better in the fighting post. It can be right-handed or left-handed. For the right-handers, the left-hand is recommended. The main thing is that at the same time nothing hinders the movement. The rubber stick can be held in one hand, or with both hands at both ends. Reflection of the attack from the front is carried out in the side post: the PR-73 is held by two hands, and the body with the invariable position of the feet is turned to the side.

Permissible strokes

With the rubber stick PR-73 in the Russian Federation, it is possible to apply swinging strokes to the trunk and extremities region from above, from below and from the side. The punches are also legalized. It is forbidden to hit the head, neck, genitals and collarbone. First and foremost, law enforcers have the right to strike at the hands, since mostly intruders are resisting using cold steel. PR in the hands of a person who has received special training, is considered a dangerous weapon, which can cause serious damage. To work with a rubber stick was effective and had no serious consequences for the detainee, every operative police officer should have information about the most vulnerable points on the human body. You also need to know about the possible consequences after the blows.

The most vulnerable places: points of the first group

This category includes the areas of the human body, the impacts of which entail minor damage:

  • Knee joints. Bumps lead to dislocations or fractures.
  • Hip. The blow leads to a painful shock.
  • Brush and elbow. The consequence may be painful shock.
  • Area of the clavicle. Disables the hand.
  • Back area. The blow causes painful shock.

Points of the second group

These include places on the human body, the impacts of which are fraught with serious consequences or lead to death:

  • The temporal region of the head, eyes, nose and neck. The blow leads to loss of vision, unconsciousness or death.
  • An ear. May cause loss of hearing, head trauma.
  • The kidneys. The blows to this place are fraught with a rupture of internal organs.

The rubber cane is considered a very effective tool, and in skillful hands only slightly inferior to firearms. This should be taken into account, as excess of authority, according to the legislation of the Russian Federation, entails a serious responsibility.

Universal special means "Argument"

1. PUS-1. The product refers to special universal rubber sticks. Polymeric synthetic materials are used in production. A knob is fastened to the knurled handle. In order to prevent hand injuries in the construction of this rubber stick, the developers have a plastic shield. This OL can be worn on the belt with a special belt ring.

  • The size of the product is 66 cm.
  • The diameter is 32 mm.
  • The diameter of the ring is 4 cm.
  • The diameter of the hob is 8 mm.

2. PUS-2. This product is identical to the first model of universal special equipment. The difference is that in the design of the PUS-2 there is an additional handle, which allows the guard to strike hand strokes and simultaneously observe the distance in relation to the opponent, not giving him the opportunity for captures and strikes.

  • The length of the gun in the folded position is 48 cm.
  • The expanded stick has a size of 65 cm.

3. PUS-3. Special universal rubber stick. The characteristic of this product is identical to the previous two models. The difference is in size. Telescopic PUS-3 in the folded state has a length of 30 cm, and after unfolding - 48. Rubber tips for sticks are designed to apply sudden and pre-emptive strikes.

Blows ahead. In which cases are applied?

Moments when the most effective pre-emptive strike:

  • During the attack. The attacker concentrates all his attention on his own actions and at this time he is not ready to attack the guard.
  • At a time when an attacker takes a knife, a stick, a broken bottle or other cold steel from his pocket.
  • During the swing.

Before delivering pre-emptive strikes, guards can negotiate, divert attention and perform other actions in order to lull the criminal's vigilance. A preemptive strike is first applied to the hand that clamps the weapon, in order to knock it out. In the instructions of guards as permissible, it is recommended to strike to immobilize the hand and temporarily disable it.

The work of law enforcement officers and employees in the security business is fraught with frequent clashes with the criminal element. The introduction of the PR in the equipment of police and security guards, as well as the conduct of trainings to increase the effectiveness of the use of this special means, provides employees with the power structures the ability to resolve conflict situations without sacrifice.
