History of the ship

The frigate "Admiral Essen" is one of six "guardsmen" who, according to two contracts signed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation with the shipyard "Yantar", should enter the structure and strengthen the Navy of our country until 2020.

Construction of the ship began in 2011. In 2014 it was already launched. And in the summer of 2016, after passing the state. Tests, the frigate "Admiral Essen" took its place among the ships of the Russian Navy.

Armament of the frigate

The main attack weapon of the ship is "Caliber-NK" - a complex capable of hitting surface, underwater, as well as ground stationary and limited mobile targets with known coordinates of location, and under conditions of active directed fire and electronic suppression. The complex includes 8 high-penetrating missiles with a homing system.

For the circular defense against air attacks, including massive air and missile attacks, as well as attacks on enemy military targets on water and on land, the ship is equipped with the Shtil-1 air defense system.

In addition, the frigate has a single-armed artillery A-190, caliber of 100 mm, capable of conducting high-efficiency fire not only by sea and air, but also by coastal facilities. The installation is equipped with a fire control system, which provides automatic search and capture of the target with its further accompaniment. The rate of fire is 80 rounds per minute with a range of up to 20 km.

To combat submarines, the ship is equipped with a pair of torpedo tubes with a caliber of 533 mm, as well as a reactive installation of the RBU-6000 bombing.

To protect against high-precision weapons, including anti-ship missiles, as well as to defeat small targets, the anti-aircraft missile artifact is installed on the frigate. The complex "Kashtan", in which anti-aircraft missiles are combined with a control system and two machine guns with six barrels for each, caliber of 30 mm.

Also in the armament complex of the frigate is a helicopter from the Ka series (28 or 31), for which a heliport with a covered hangar is arranged on the ship.
