Tacheometric survey

Tachometric survey is a type of topographic survey performed by means of special instruments. As such they can serve as a theodolite and rangefinder rake, or a total station. The result of such a survey is to obtain a terrain plan and an image of the relief.

Tachometric survey is designed to create a plan or digital model of small areas on a large scale or in combination with some other type of work, when it is economically inexpedient or difficult to technically perform stereotopographic or mensul survey. The result of such a survey is used in the management of land or urban cadastre, for the design of settlements, planning land allocation, planning measures for land improvement, as well as in carrying out or planning other types of work. This type of shooting is advantageous and expedient to apply in the search for trails of canals, roads for road and rail transport, power lines, and other linear objects located on a fairly narrow strip of terrain.

If we translate the word "tacheometry" from Greek, it means "fast measurement". A fairly significant advantage of this type of survey in front of all others is that it can be carried out under the most unfavorable weather conditions. Cameral work may well be done immediately by some other performer after the field measurements are completed. This makes it possible to significantly shorten the timeframe for plotting the terrain. The process of tachometric shooting can be fully automated by using electronic total stations, and the plan can be compiled on the basis of computers using plotter.

Tachometric survey also has a small disadvantage: the layout of the terrain is made in the cameral conditions only on the basis of the results of measurements and field sketches, which have already been done. However, it is difficult to say that tachymetric survey is less significant than other types of surveys. The final result in this case can be a three-dimensional model in the format dwg.

Accelerate the work associated with surveying the terrain, and improve the degree of accuracy can be through partial conducting directly on the object of office work using a whole set of instruments at the same time. Acceleration of the shooting is facilitated by the use of several instruments at the same time: several total stations, a level and a total station. This approach is quite convenient for shooting complex cross-country terrain, if it is best to engage in parallel shooting of several sites. To such objects it is possible to carry the main gas pipelines, which are rather difficult to project in the Far East or the north due to difficult natural conditions.
