Restoring the boot sector of Windows 7

Windows 7 is a very reliable operating system, but with it there are problems. When a computer running this OS refuses to boot, it may be necessary to restore the boot sector of the CDM from which the entire system is initialized and started.

If the problem is not related to the user's actions, in general, the built-in diagnostics tools of Windows 7 can solve the problem on their own, it's enough to wait for the restart after the unsuccessful start in which you will be offered to boot into the system recovery tool and choose a self-fix option there.

But, unfortunately, this tool does not always help, in rare cases it can be useless and you will have to work with your hands. In order to bring the computer in order (if you prefer to call in such cases the wizard, I do not advise you to read further), you will need to perform several simple actions. Also, manual recovery of the boot sector of windows 7 is absolutely essential for those who install Windows XP on a computer that already has Windows 7 installed, since the WinXP boot record (MBR) erases the data that the seven entered in the MBR. After such an experiment, you will only have to boot XP, and Win7 will not be among the options for choosing the OS. But in this case it's easier to turn to the EasyBCD utility, the description of which can be found on the network.

So, if you encounter the problems described at the beginning of this material, first of all calm down, nothing terrible happened and everything can be corrected, since the recovery of the boot sector for a modern operating system is a regular procedure.

Your actions will differ depending on what exactly led to the inability to boot into the "Seven".

If you installed WinXP on top of Win7, then you should download EasyBCD. Run it in XP, you can in a few simple steps to restore the bootloader and return it to the boot list of Windows 7.

If you, for example, installed Windows XP over Windows 7 and booted through EasyBCD, and then, for some reason, decided to demolish a partition with XP on the CD-ROM - then you have a more complicated situation. Removing XP, you deleted and EasyBCD, which means that now the computer does not know how to download at least some OS.

To restore the boot sector of Windows 7, you will have to remember where you have the Win7 recovery disk (of course you created it, right?) Or, if the answer is negative, then we are looking for the operating system installation disk . It does not matter what you find, what is, then insert it into the drive. Now you need to boot from the disk, and enter the "System Restore" section. Using the Bootrec.exe utility, which is available on the installation disk and the recovery disc of the "Seven", the recovery of the Win7 boot sector does not take much time.

When you select "System Restore", you will have options after a short wait, most likely, only one OS will be able to restore - Windows 7. On the next screen below, you will see the option "Command line", click on it and the window will open in Which will need to type a few commands.

First, you should check whether everything is OK with the Bootrec utility, to do this, type the bootrec command in the console and press the Enter key. Next, each command must be completed by pressing this key. A text will appear that describes the features of the utility.

In order to start the recovery of the boot sector, type the command

Bootrec / fixmbr

If, in response, the computer writes that "Operation completed successfully" means everything is OK and the bootloader has been overwritten. You can go to the second part, type the command

Bootrec / fixboot

After you hit enter, the computer will form a new boot sector, you can now type the command

Exit

After all these manipulations, you can reboot the computer and enjoy the normal operation of your OS.

As you can see, rebuilding the boot sector of Windows 7 is really a very simple procedure.
