Problems of ecology: arguments from literature

Unidentified ocean depths, mysterious spaces, amazing tropical forests, amazing mountain ranges - an amazing, mysterious and mysterious world that surrounds us from time immemorial. The man's constant striving for progress has undoubtedly yielded results - water flows directly from the tap for us, and electricity and the Internet have become so familiar that now it is difficult for us to imagine our existence without these benefits of civilization.

Huge plants, the number of which grows every year, provide modern humanity with virtually all the necessary resources. We have mastered metal and learned to use oil, invented paper and gunpowder, and huge information resources are now stored on tiny plastic carriers.

For all you need to pay

It would seem that the life of modern humanity is almost ideal - everything is at hand, everything can be bought or produced, but not everything is so smooth. In pursuit of progress, we overlook one extremely important detail - the limited nature of natural resources. Every year, human activities cause the extinction of a huge number of species of living things, not to mention the destruction of forests and significant changes in climate leading to global cataclysms.

One of the most serious and demanding questions is the problems of ecology. Arguments for the preservation of the environment vary widely, from appeals to mercy and ending with scientific evidence of the existence of a planetary-scale threat.

What do movies

If to reflect, at the moment there is really a staggering number of films, in which the problem of the need to protect the environment is revealed . As an example, we can cite the famous catastrophe "The Day After Tomorrow", in which the theme of global warming is revealed, or the once-famed film with John Cusack in the title role with the minimal name "2012".

By and large, one of the most popular topics in modern (and not only) cinematography is precisely the problems of ecology. Arguments in favor of limiting the use of natural resources literally fall on the viewer directly from the screen, but so far this has not yielded significant results.

Book pages

Such topics are not less common in literature. Not only art, but also scientific book production from all different sides highlights all possible arguments on the problem of ecology. The book "Silent spring", for example, reveals the danger of using pesticides, and Robin Murray in his work "Aim - Zero Waste" draws the reader's attention to the need for quality waste disposal for the sake of preserving the environment.

In any classical or modern anti-utopia, one of the topics covered is the irrational use of natural resources and the pernicious influence of man on the flora and fauna of the planet.

In the footsteps of Ray Bradbury

A classic example of fiction on the irrational use of resources and human capabilities can be called the novel "And Thunder Rumble" Ray Bradbury. Not the last place in the work is occupied by the problems of ecology. The author gives the most impressive arguments - the disappearance of a tiny butterfly can lead to truly irreversible consequences that changed the whole course of evolution.

A Friend of the Earth

This novel describes the ecological situation in the not so distant 2026, when practically no trees or wild animals were left. It would seem, what other arguments are required? Many writers turn to the problem of ecology in literature, and the author of the work under consideration does not skimp on large-scale comparisons of the past and the future and a description of what the Earth can lose if the world's population does not reconsider its views on the use of natural resources.

This was said by Orwell

Infinite buildings of all kinds of ministries, mud, devastation, in which the modern world is submerged - here is the classic landscape from the novel "1984", in which arguments for the problem of ecology lie mostly in the comparison between the naturalness of nature and the coldness of the stone erected by man.

"Cloud Atlas"

And the film, shot jointly by Tom Tykwer and the Wachowski tandem, and David Mitchell's book, try to draw the attention of the masses to the unreasonable behavior of a person. Although indirectly, this work also highlights certain environmental problems. Arguments the author leads in such a way that the reader (and then the viewer) simply can not understand at times, the past before him or the future.

Noisy megacities without a trace of vegetation echo in this masterpiece with boundless green forests and blue oceans, among which there is no place for man anymore. A special soap replaces the food, and the company is served by specially created for this "factory", which is recycled and converted into a source of energy after the expiration date.

Description of the beautiful

To date, one of the most pressing problems is the problem of ecology. Arguments from the literature on this subject can be absolutely scientific and proven facts, but they will not compare with the descriptions of the purity and beauty of flora and fauna, with which the world classics abound. How can you not think about preserving the environment, reading about the virgin jungles and ocean depths in Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe? How can you remain indifferent to the rescue of rare species, holding in your hands the autobiographical book Joy Adamson "Born Free"?

What is the problem of ecology for modern mankind? Arguments from literature, cinema and even computer games from the category of Last of us are no longer able to impress him. Sometimes it seems that the imaginary button "stop", responsible for stopping the destruction of the environment, can be pressed only in the most extreme, limiting situation, when there can be no turning back.

A huge number of leading scientists around the world are continuously trumpeting the threat looming over humanity, leading to more and more weighty arguments. It is impossible to close eyes to the problem of ecology. More and more large-scale activities are taking place in favor of preserving the environment. Appropriate petitions collect millions and even billions of signatures around the world, but this does not stop the modern person. And who knows what it will lead to later ...
