The artist Vasily Grigorievich Perov lived in 1833-82. The exact date of his birth is unknown, approximately this is the end of December 1833 - early January 1834. Grigory Vasilyevich - illegitimate son of Baron Grigory (George) - Provincial Prosecutor. Despite the fact that after the birth of the child the parents were married, he still did not have the right to the title and surname.

Somehow Father Vasily invited the artist to join them. The boy loved to observe the work of the painter, and this caused him great interest in creativity. Despite the fact that because of smallpox, which the child suffered from, his vision deteriorated, Vasily still studied diligently and independently studied drawing.

Then the father gave the child to the Arzamas Art School, where he studied from 1846 to 1849. Supervised by the school A. V. Stupin, he flattered about the young talent and said that Vasily has a talent.

Not graduating from college because of the conflict with a fellow student, the young man moved to Moscow, where he entered the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.

Awards, paintings

In 1856 Perov was awarded a small silver medal for the portrait of Nikolai Grigorievich Criedener . Then there were the works "Arrival of the station", "The scene on the grave", "The Wanderer". For the painting "The first rank" the artist was awarded a small gold medal, and for "Rural procession at Easter" he was awarded a large gold medal.

Then the painter created many more beautiful canvases, among which his famous painting "The Hunters at Rest", "Three", "Sleeping Children", "Arrival of the Institutes". His last works are "The Wanderer in the Field", The Fishermen "," The Old Man on the Bench "," The Weeping of Yaroslavna ".

About the famous canvas

The painting "The Hunters at Rest" was written by VI Perov in 1871. If in the first half of the period of his work the artist reflects cheerless scenes of the people's life ("Seeing the Dead", "The Boy-Craftsman", "The Troika", etc.), in the second he more often depicts hunters, birders, fishermen, Than they do.

The artist himself loved to hunt, so he was familiar with this topic. Now the picture "Hunters on a halt" is in the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, and a copy created by the author in 1877, you can see visiting the State Russian Museum.

Description of the plot of the picture

In the foreground are three hunters. Apparently, they wandered in the woods early in the morning in search of prey. Their trophies were limited to ducks and hares. The hunters were tired and decided to make a halt.

In the background, small islets of snow are visible. On the front and side - dried grass, bushes, which have not yet blossomed green leaflets. Most likely, this is the end of March or the beginning of April. It's already getting dark, but men are not afraid of the dark. They are well in the company of each other, as common interests, conversations rally.

So, the man sitting on the left, the prototype of which was DP Kuvshinnikov, the oldest. It is evident that he is a seasoned hunter. A man talks about his exploits. By the way his hands are tense, it is clear that he says that he somehow met a bear and, of course, got out of the fight by the winner.

It can be seen that a middle-aged man who is located between two hunters is sarcastic about a friend's story. Apparently, he heard this bike more than once. This hunter lowered his eyes and barely suppressed a smile so as not to laugh, but did not want to give out his old friend and did not tell the young hunter that the story was fiction. Here they are, hunters at halt. The price of a fictional story is not high, but the youngest hunter does not know this.

He listens so attentively to the narrator that he does not see what is happening around him. He even forgets to smoke - a hand with a cigarette froze - so tightly watching a young man behind a verbal plot. Apparently, he only recently joined this company and does not yet know all the tales that his new friends can tell.
