Cancer of the rectum is a verdict?

Rectal cancer is a very common disease and leaves about 5% of all cancers of the human body. In cancer of the intestine, it is in the rectum that tumors are most often localized.

The rectum is one of the main parts of the digestive system. After absorbing nutrients from the eaten food in the small intestine, the remnants pass into the large intestine. It removes water, and the waste is temporarily transferred to the rectum, which is the last twenty centimeters of the intestine. And already out of it waste leaves the body through the anus. Cancer of the rectum, as a rule, manifests itself more often in men and at the age of forty.

Symptoms of rectal cancer are small:
• changes in intestinal motility causing constipation or diarrhea are possible;
• Visiting the toilet, there is a feeling that the intestines are not completely free;
• bleeding from the anus;
• pain in the abdomen.

Oncological tumors of the rectum grow slowly, and clinical symptoms appear gradually. Manifestations of the disease become pronounced when the cancer is gaining strength and reaches a large size. Therefore, it is so important to observe your body, which will always make it clear that something is wrong with it.

Only your doctor can diagnose the presence of a tumor. After all, so often patients who had blood liberation during bowel movement did not consult a doctor, considering this to be a consequence of hemorrhoids, and made an irreparable mistake. It turned out that late treatment of rectal cancer, metastases spread to other organs.

Unfortunately, modern medicine, diagnosing cancer of the rectum in patients, causes the development of this cancer can not be established. An important role is played by the way of life, and what kind of food you prefer. It is from this that the amount of feces, the speed of movement, their components, the structure of the bacterial flora depends.

Studies have shown that eating food, which slows down the movement of its contents through the intestines, causes a prolonged exposure to its walls with substances that provoke the appearance of tumors. Also, a provoking factor can be called a small physical load, or lack thereof in general, since the active way of life positively affects the intestinal peristalsis.

There are also factors contributing to an increased risk of this disease:
• age limit after fifty;
• genetic predisposition;
• the presence of polyps in the rectum;
• previous inflammatory bowel movements;
• unbalanced nutrition;
• overweight.

It is not difficult to diagnose cancer of the rectum to a qualified physician, since the finger method allows to reveal the tumor at a distance of up to 20 cm from the anus when examining. Completely rectum is examined with a rectoscope, a special hollow metal tube that has a light source at the end.

Also, the methods of investigation include x-rays and internal ultrasound (ultrasound), which allows you to estimate the percentage of tumor germination. Using ultrasound, it is also possible to detect the presence of metastases in the liver and in the lymph nodes. Modern medicine does not stand still and in the diagnosis both computer and positron emission tomography are used, which are new products of medical technologies.

To detect cancer of the rectum is only the beginning, it is much more difficult to cure it. Several methods of treatment are used for this:
• operating method - malignant tumor and other tissues to be removed, cut through the anus, or through the abdominal cavity (a special incision is made);
• The method of radiation therapy, in which the patient is exposed to a high dose;
• The method of chemotherapy, when drugs are introduced into the body that destroy cancer cells.
