"Perhaps (flattering hope!),
Indicates future ignoramus
To my illustrious portrait
And he says: that was the poet! "
Alexander Pushkin

To the poem "The Prisoner of the Caucasus" (the first edition) is attached a portrait of a boy in a light shirt, propping up a swarthy cheek. For the first time, the secular public, and then the whole of Russia, saw Alexander Pushkin. At that time he was no more than 14 years old, and the author of the portrait was 23 years old. Subsequently, a great many portraits of the famous Russian poet AS will be created. Pushkin. But significant value for generations is the schematic outline of the pen, made by the poet himself.

Heritage

Among these sketches is a self-portrait of Pushkin. To make sure that the image of the poet corresponds to his own image, we study his iconography, the memories of his contemporaries. We are interested to know how the poet of all times and peoples really looked. Here he is, 21 years old, three days after his birthday (May 26, 1820) arrives in the Azov Sea.

Youth, boldness, overflow of feelings and new thoughts, which lie in rows. A few years later - in 1829 - Pushkin's self-portrait of his love for Natalia Goncharov appears when he asks for her hands. He does not receive the consent, but also the refusal also did not follow. However, such an ardent love could not remain without reciprocity, and later the poet receives a positive response. In the meantime, a trip to the Caucasus (without the consent of the government) in the period of local military operations. Sketches and notes of the future "Travel to Arzrum" are born right on the road. The lines of poems "Caucasus", "Collapse", "The night haze lies on the hills of Georgia ..." flow from under the pen. Pushkin's self-portrait is an integral part of these works. Before the descendants came a graphic representation of the poet's pen on the horse's stylus. Self-portrait of 1829, of course, reflects the impressions received in the Caucasus, because the poet entered the Arzrum together with the Russian troops. According to another version of Pushkin's heritage researchers, a poet on a horse is saved from the government. There are also assumptions that Pushkin's proud bearing on a horse is a reflection of his inner state, connected with the answer of Natalia Goncharova. In this posture from Don Quixote all the nobility and fidelity to the beautiful lady, with which every line of the verse of the same period "I loved you" is permeated. Somewhat later, Goncharova agreed to become his wife.

Self-portrait of the poet as an element of his works

Priceless rough drafts and sketches of the poet are a collection of verse lines and graphics. Drawings - an integral part of the creative process, a kind of creative respite. At the time of the creation of graphics, he pondered and evaluated, waited for a rush of thought and inspiration, and the muse visited him. The poet does not seek to disclose his drawings, they are created for the only spectator - their author. Pushkin's self-portrait with a feather is distinguished by the peculiarity that reveals the characteristic features of the poet, the romantic and ardent long-haired dandy and at the same time a bold and even insolent free-thinker (sketch depicting Pushkin and Lermontov on the banks of the Neva).

In his portraits there is not a shadow of selfishness or narcissism, rather, they are full of subtle self-irony, sarcasm. A slight grin on his plump lips, technique in the manner of the cartoon, sharp clear lines confirm this. The poet draws himself and his family on the manuscript fields, the heroes of his works and mystical characters. Self-portrait of Pushkin with the image of the Demon tempting the poet, is permeated with sarcasm and mockery. The artist Pushkin is true to the original, faithful to him. Interest in his appearance does not hint at egocentrism. Such introspection is a way of self-knowledge. But he jokingly sees himself with a laurel wreath on his head: a balding old man with a wrinkled face in the manner of the great Dante and the words: "Great Father P." In this vision, dignity and satisfaction, pride and sadness in connection with the end of work on the work, the price Which he understood and knew. Accurate and keen artist Pushkin, whose self-portrait we all know, painted himself with all his features, not hiding the flat nose, whiskers and lush lips. So he is remembered by everyone who has ever heard his name.
