Omsk Academic Drama Theater: history, repertoire, troupe

Omsk Academic Drama Theater, the history of creation of which is presented in this article, is one of the oldest in Siberia. He was six times the winner of the main theater prize "Golden Mask". In his repertoire there are a lot of plays by contemporary authors.

About the theater

The Omsk Academic Drama Theater was founded in 1874. Photo of the building in which it is located since 1905 and which is an architectural monument, is presented below.

The city's Duma allocated funds for its construction. It was built according to the project of the architect I.Khvorinov. In 1983, the theater was awarded the status of "academic". The main director of the theater

Georgiy Z. Tskhvirava. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Culture, and then GITIS. In Omsk Academic Drama Theater came to work as a director in 1985. In 1991 he left for Sverdlovsk. There 5 years he held the post of chief director in the theater of the young spectator. Then he changed his job again. Since 2000 and until 2005 he was the main director in the youth theater of the city of Kazan. Then he returned to the Omsk Drama Theater. Since 2009, he is the main director here. The first performance, which he put, taking this post - "Three girls in blue." The performances of Georgy Zurabovich constantly take part in prestigious festivals and competitions not only of Russia, but also of the International scale. In 2003, G. Tshvirava was nominated for the Golden Mask.

Laboratory

Omsk State Academic Drama Theater organized on its own base a laboratory of modern drama. Here creative experiments and searches are carried out. The spectator is interested in not only eternal values in performances, he wants to see on the stage and the problems of the modern world. When choosing a play, you need to focus on what the modern public wants. At the same time, the process of creating plays should be creativity, not stamping out what will surely bring profit, but will not allow the theater to develop.

The laboratory allows you to test your abilities, set challenging tasks and solve them. Directors, playwrights and actors gather here. They together are trying to find a way to best implement the idea on stage. When a playwright creates a play, he plays it in the imagination. The director, after reading it, develops the idea of incarnation. Actors endow the characters with flesh and voice. But not everything that the playwright wrote is possible to show on the stage the way he intended. The director can have a point of view on the embodiment of the play opposite to that which the author has. The producer takes part of the plot in the play and gets rid of the text, which he considers unacceptable for the stage. When creating images, actors can give the characters character traits that are not in the play.

The performance is the result of everyone's efforts, so it is necessary to work together harmoniously. You can see the merits and demerits of the production only on stage. For these reasons, theaters rarely decide on new plays, preferring classics. The laboratory performs the function of an experimental scene. Here the playwrights, actors and directors bring together all the components of the future performance. Create sketch sets. Then analyze and correct errors. Thanks to the work of the laboratory, five plays of contemporary unknown authors were delivered.

Awards and Prizes

Omsk Academic Drama Theater has won many awards. In 2002, the actress N.Vasiliadi was awarded the main theater prize of the country "Golden Mask" for her role in the play based on the novel by V.Nabokov. In 2005, the performance "Siberian Transit" at the festival in Krasnoyarsk received an award for the best director's work. Year 2006 again brought the theater "Golden Mask". She was awarded to him for a variety of creative searches. The years 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013 also brought the theater victories in regional, all-Russian and international festivals. The team was awarded the regional governor and the president of Russia for a great contribution to the development of theatrical art.
