What does a person need for life? Watch your body and develop a spiritual beginning. What is more important of this? Everyone answers this question with his own way of life. Someone exists only to create comfort around themselves in the form of things and tasty food, and someone does not pay special attention to material welfare, preferring to develop the inner world, guided by the rule: not by bread alone.
History and meaning
The expression "Man does not live by bread alone" came to us from the Bible. In the Old Testament, in Deuteronomy, when Moses addressed his people, exhausted by a long return from Egypt, these words first sounded. He said that the tests were not given in vain, that by eating all this time with the heavenly manna and the word of the Lord, people now know for sure that man should not live by bread alone. These same words were repeated also by Jesus (the New Testament, the Gospel of Matthew), passing the test in the wilderness, in response to the temptation of the tempter to turn stones into bread, in order to prove his strength. And since then, in a rare classic work you will not find these wise words in one or another interpretation: "Not by bread alone". The meaning of this expression is clear to everyone: a person, in order to be a man, must eat spiritual food. But not everyone can follow this.
The poor in spirit
What kind of food is this, without which the soul of man can not do? It is the soul, not the mind. It is the search for meaning in life and its purpose, this understanding of the highest justice and the desire to match it. This is a constant spiritual hunger. If we recall the words of Jesus Christ that only the poor in spirit deserve the Kingdom of Heaven, then it is worthwhile to think that "beggars" in this case are not those who do not (or have little) spirit, but those who are not enough. Those who are hungry for knowledge and understanding, discovering all the great spiritual spaces, understand their infinity, and as far as the poor (they know little) themselves. Such "beggars" do not exactly live by bread alone.
Word and business
It can be assumed that everyone agrees that people should not live by bread alone. Everyone agrees, but if you look around, the impression will be reversed. Is not this the reason that in life, words and deeds diverge? Why is the logical chain violated: thought - word - matter? In practice, it turns out that people think about one thing, they say different things, but they do the third thing. Hence all the contradictions: having great knowledge, including spiritual knowledge, mankind prefers material values. If for the full nutrition of man nature has created everything necessary, then man for the sake of profit extraction created even more harmful, artificial, but beautiful food. If to save health in the body requires a minimum of funds and efforts, then a person first does everything to lose this health from childhood, and then (again for the purpose of enrichment) sells it in the form of medicines and all kinds of paid services. If everyone understands that the beauty of a person is the beauty of the soul, then why so much attention to clothing and all sorts of jewelry? If everyone respects and values the classics in a word (literature, music, painting ...), then why do all the media spread people a completely different "food"? These "ifs" and "why" can be enumerated to infinity. Everything will change only when in the foreground there are sincerity, spiritual values and when they do not speak, but live not by bread alone.
