Mordovia State National Drama Theater: history, repertoire, troupe

Mordovia State National Drama Theater has existed for more than 80 years. In his repertoire performances of different genres: from drama to musical.

History of the theater

The National Theater (Saransk) was established in 1932. His troupe gave its first performance in 1935. The repertoire included Russian and foreign classics.

Since 1939 the theater has begun to show on its stage performances of plays written by Mordovian authors. The performances, which were created according to the works of national writers, enjoyed great popularity among the audience. Artists played not only on their site, but also went on tour around the regions.

During the Great Patriotic Theater the theater began to play performances in Mordovian languages less and less. Most of the troupe fought. The main task of the theater was to serve the defenders of the Motherland. Almost all the productions were in Russian. This continued after the end of the Second World War.

In subsequent years the troupe was repeatedly replenished by young artists.

In 1989, graduates of the Shchepkinsky school came to work at the Mordovia State National Drama Theater. These are young artists who were born in Saransk, and left for Moscow to study. Thanks to them, the national theater was born anew. The troupe was allocated a very old building, in which there was a small hall, with only 35 seats. But, despite the difficulties, the actors worked with great enthusiasm. His director was not in the theater, and the troupe invited the directors from the side.

Since 1991, artists have been active in festivals. Many of their works were awarded diplomas.

In 2007 the new building received a drama theater. His address is Sovetskaya Street, house number 27. Among the guests of the opening ceremony of the new theater was President Vladimir Putin.

The auditorium of the new building is designed for 313 seats. It features Italian-made armchairs. The floor is covered with pile covering, the walls are hung with tapestries. The stage is equipped with modern light and sound equipment. The rehearsal room is equipped.

The floors of the foyer are lined with ceramic granite. The walls are made of plasterboard and covered with Venetian plaster. The balconies are decorated with Mordovian ornaments.

The central entrance is decorated with bronze statues. In the square near the theater there is a fountain "Stone Flower".

Today there are 33 actors in the theater troupe. Almost all have higher theatrical education.

"Do not forget the unforgettable"

For the holiday of the Great Victory, the Drama Theater (Saransk) prepared a musical and poetic evening. The program was held in the open air. Svetlana Ivanovna Dorogaykina, the director of the theater, opened the evening. She made a congratulatory speech and wished everyone a peaceful sky above her head.

The program included military verses and songs. The guests were treated to soldiers' porridge and hot tea.

The evening ended Mordovia State National Drama Theater. He presented the audience with the play "Do not forget the unforgettable". His plot is based on letters from front-line soldiers, which they wrote to their relatives and friends. In dances and songs, the actors expressed all the experiences and thoughts that those who survived that terrible war had. The play was watched by veterans. They sang along to the artists with tears in their eyes.
