The word came in our language from Italian. Props - what is this? Forgery, objects for theatrical performance, models, which are used on stage instead of real ones.

The props have a wide range of uses. In the theater there are several types of modeling works.

  1. Decoration.
  2. Furniture.
  3. Props.
  4. Costumes.
  5. Ornaments.

Decoration is an artificial world for the implementation of action: walls, columns, stairs on the stage. All this is decorated and stylized under a certain era and place. For example, the walls and ceiling for the palace halls or stone castles of the Middle Ages, the railing "for gold," or figured "forged" patterns.

Furniture: tables, chairs, armchairs, sofas for a period of time and the need for a play are prepared. For example, the throne of the king or Venetian chairs. Suits have a dummy basis in headgear, decoration (unusual buttons, buckles), shoes. For example, the horns of the Silver Hoof, the crown of the king, the painted boots of Grandfather Frost.

The widest application in the theater has requisite props. That it is all small household items that are used during presentation. Dishes, food (cakes, fruits, fried boars), weapons. All the decorations on the actors - it's a fake.

Materials and Manufacturing

All materials for props can not be listed. In the work is almost everything that the imagination of the artist is capable of. But the main ones can be considered paper, fabric, foam and gypsum. With the help of glue and paints, any dummy is created. Such objects are lighter in weight, quickly repaired, naturally, cheaper than real ones, but at the same time have expressive recognizable forms. Minor details that are not visible to the viewer and which do not work during the presentation are not reproduced.

The main method of manufacturing the props is papier-mache props. What is it? A model of several layers of paper, impregnated with glue or paste. In order to make such a props, usually take for the basis of this subject. For example, a vase is sealed with the first ten layers of paper, dried, cut into two halves, the main thing is taken out, glued or stitched copy, pasted with paper or cloth and painted.

You can create a fake object from a single material or complex of combinations. Products made of polystyrene are pasted with a cloth; Gypsum and plastic - the perfect combination for statues and columns. Wooden or plywood rails are usually decorated with stucco from softened cardboard.

History

The prophecy arose in the days of the first theatrical performances in Ancient Greece. The actors depicted the gods and heroes with their dummy swords, shields and bows. In the Italian comedy productions has become widespread, in the same place and got its name, which came down to us.

To date, the use of fakes is great. They are used in advertising and decorating holidays. There is a props for a photo shoot and at home. Fake video cameras are often put in places where an offense or theft can occur. This method deters criminals and saves the means of organization. During the Second World War, they created sham storages with weapons and equipment in order to mislead the enemy.

Profession - sham

In Soviet times, in theater universities, it was taught as a separate discipline and was a profession. In our time, theater props are part of the training course for artists. In large theaters, all the models make a separate workshop, in provincial ones it is combined with an artistic production section or a carpentry workshop.

The most successful examples of scenic fake art are exhibited in museums, which allows the viewer to see a part of the "great deception" and backstage. Props: what is this? A full partner of actors and directors. Not all on the stage props, these objects are also present on the stage. But also they are accepted to process for completeness of an artistic image, to tint for brightness and proximity to the theme of the production.
