History of the theater

The Drama Theater (Astrakhan), whose photo is presented in this article, was founded by the lieutenant A. Gruzinov in 1810. Then the troupe was not permanent. A small utility room was specially refurbished for such purposes. A stone building, where it was possible to show performances in winter, was built in 1887.

Now it included performances, consonant with that time. New changes in life, the creative activity of the theater was made by war. The actors split into brigades and began performing in hospitals in front of the wounded, military units, and the construction of defensive structures. Now their main task was to raise the morale of the defenders of the Motherland. Most of the repertoire was composed of works about the war.

The year 1986 brought the Drama Theater the Order of the Badge of Honor. A year after this event the theater was closed for restoration, which lasted seven years. At this time, the troupe was forced to roam along other people's platforms. But, despite the tests, during this period, several premieres took place: "Trees are dying standing", "The Wedding of Balzaminov", "Tram" Desire ". The brightest performances of the last century were: "The Ghost of Alexander Wolf", "The Idiot", "The Death of Tarelkin", "The Fool", "A Family Portrait with an Outsider".

In the beginning of 2000, A. Tsodikov became the head of the theater. Thanks to him, the productions acquired grace, originality and psychologism. The repertoire included "box office" comedy plays. Today in the program of the Astrakhan drama there are performances for absolutely any taste. Here, and classics, and musical performances, and the avant-garde, and children's fairy tales.
