Monolithic foundation - guaranteeing the durability of your home

One of the most reliable constructive solutions for the foundation of buildings and structures is a monolithic foundation of concrete. To increase its technical performance in strength and resistance to the effects of various loads, it is reinforced with reinforcing metal frames.

In buildings where the basement part is not provided, lateral trench walls are used as the formwork. But it should be noted that with this technology of production, there is an increased consumption of concrete, which is economically unprofitable. Qualitatively installed and firmly fixed formwork will reduce the loss of concrete mix, as well as fix the thickness of the structure, which is required by the design drawing on the tape monolithic foundation.

Installation of the formwork boards, made of coniferous species of wood, is produced on a sand cushion.

It is permissible to use hardwood for fastening elements. In accordance with the technology of production of works, the width of boards for the manufacture of shields should not exceed 150 millimeters. The boards should be of equal thickness. The surface of the board, in contact with concrete, is covered with a film of polyethylene or is covered with tin. It is prohibited to use formwork boards that have slots between the boards to prevent the flow of cement milk.

The monolithic foundation is reinforced, depending on the bearing capacity of the soils at its base. For the production of reinforcing frames, hot-rolled reinforcement of periodic profile is used. For each individual reinforcement frame , the project specifies the size, grade and diameter of the reinforcement used. If the diameter of individual rods is up to 25 mm, their fastening in a single frame is made by special wire, spot welding or fasteners made of plastic, if more than 25 mm, then by electric arc welding.

Immediately before filling in the monolithic foundation, the formwork must be cleaned of dirt, debris, and the reinforcement must be cleaned of rust. The slots must be removed.

The production of concrete works includes the following technological operations: the production and delivery of a concrete mixture to an object, its laying in formwork and care during the setting. Monolithic foundation meets its technical parameters only if it is made of a quality concrete mix. Its quality depends on many factors: the brand of cement, aggregates, the amount of water and many others. The foundation tape monolithic concreting in an uninterrupted manner, but in case of emergency, this process can be interrupted with the obligatory arrangement of working seams. Work seams are made only horizontal or vertical type, it is strictly forbidden to make them inclined. To achieve the best effect in the implementation of monolithic foundations, it is absolutely necessary to vibrate the concrete mix.
