Mite under the skin: signs of its appearance and methods of treatment

A short or long microscopic tick under the skin can live on both the scalp of the face or the body, and on the skin. Scientifically, this disease is called demodecosis, so the Latin name for the name of the hypodermic tick is translated . Such a small parasite can spoil the life of every person. Very often the mite affects the hair follicles on the head, eyelashes, eyebrows, and also settles in the sebaceous glands of the skin.

Scientists have conducted a study and found an interesting fact - about 20% of the total population are potential carriers of subcutaneous mites, but they do not even suspect it, since no manifestations of the disease are observed. The fact is that the mite under the skin behaves quietly as long as it feeds on the dead cells of the skin, when the immunity is weakened, it begins to actively multiply in the layers of the skin, thereby causing inflammation. Most often this disease affects women.

Initial signs of the disease

The tick under the skin begins its active activity in spring and autumn, and at this time there is an exacerbation of demodectic disease. The initial signs are very similar to the acne that occurs most often in these places: the superciliary arches, the nasolabial part of the face, eyelids, forehead, chin. In places where there are small pryshchiki, begins peeling, growing itching and redness. When washing with cold water or using facial cleansers, all these signs manifest themselves in a more aggressive form. You can get infected anywhere: at contact with animals, in hairdressing salons or massage parlors, as well as in everyday contact with infected people, that is, through bed linen, handshakes, hygiene products or clothes. By the way, in a similar way you can get a tick and itch. Neither the species is able to penetrate the internal organs of man.

As mentioned above, the mite under the skin itself is completely safe for humans, but the disease that it causes can long cause suffering in existence: constant itching, ugly rashes on the face, which, disappearing on one part of the body, immediately appear on the other . Particularly at risk of infection are the following groups of people: adolescents and pregnant women, people with frequent emotional disorders, people with existing skin problems (seborrhea, acne) and those who have used hormonal drugs for a long time.

How is demodicosis treated?

Like any parasite under the skin, the mite does not live long, but it manages to multiply extensively and does not disappear by itself, so the treatment is long and painstaking. The fact is that in addition to destroying the microorganism itself, it is also necessary to cure the skin, which was struck by demodicosis. In the most neglected cases, surgical intervention, ie removal of the mite surgically or with the help of plasmapheresis, will be required. With a moderate course of the disease, lotions and ointments are prescribed for external action and antibiotics to strengthen the result from the inside.
