MAZ-5334: overview, specifications, models

Very often, engineers are trying to ensure that their offspring are maximally multifunctional and have the ability to operate in various weather conditions, while performing a wide range of tasks. If this statement is projected onto existing modern trucks, one of such universal machines is MAZ-5334, technical characteristics, the carrying capacity of which will be discussed in detail in this article.

Historical reference

This well-known car was produced by employees of the Minsk Automobile Plant in the period from 1977 to 1990. Due to its technical capabilities the machine has found its wide application in all spheres of the national economy. The truck is inherently an improved version of the MAZ-5335 and is designed for mounting on the chassis of various bodies or superstructures. In our time the car is no longer produced, but it can be purchased from other people at a fairly reasonable price.

Cabin

MAZ-5334 is equipped with a well thought-out driver's cab. Its outer corners are rounded, which has a positive effect on aerodynamic performance. The main headlights are located not on the car body, as in many other models, but on the bumper. The radiator is securely closed with a steel grating, the openings of which are wide enough to provide the required flow of cooling air. Also, the cabin has a pair of windscreens, which are separated by a special vertical partition. This design feature ensures the safety of the glass from the driver's side even if the passenger glass is completely broken.

The driver's wheel is almost vertical. The armchair is equipped with a damping mechanism, which effectively neutralizes any shaking while driving along the nerve tracks. The sensation of any stiffness of the chair is completely absent.

The instrument panel has sensors built into it, signaling the driver about all available parameters: speed, pressure in the hydraulic system and so on. Between the window and the instrument surface there is a large space that allows you to store there various items and parts, which is actively used by all drivers.

Main factors

MAZ-5334, the technical characteristics of which will be given below, in practice it was used as a car crane, a tanker, a dump truck, a tractor, a drilling rig, a concrete truck, a rescue workshop, a people transport vehicle.

The main technical parameters of the machine are the following:

• Dimensions in meters - 7.14 x 2.5 x 2.65.
• The wheel formula is 4 x 2 (the leading wheels are the rear wheels).
• The load capacity is 8200 kg.
• The total weight of the laden vehicle is 15 225 kg.
• The permissible weight of the loaded trailer is 13 000 kg.
• The maximum speed is 85 km / h.
• The time required to accelerate to 60 km / h is 50 seconds.
• Fuel consumption - 22 liters are required for every 100 km of the track.

Engine and gearbox

MAZ-5334 is equipped with a six-cylinder low-speed V-shaped engine YaMZ-236, the power of which varies between 150-300 horsepower. In some cases, the installation of YaMZ-238 was allowed, which could produce up to 420 horsepower while maintaining the same speed.

The gearbox was made three-way, five-speed. In it, the 2nd and 3rd, as well as the 4th and 5th speeds were fully synchronized. To ensure a stable and long-term engine operation, a six-section injection pump with a built-in injection timing coupling was used.

Modifications Overview

MAZ-5334 in the performance of the "mobile crane" was equipped with special outriggers and a torsion-type suspension. As lifting equipment, both non-movable and telescopic arrows were used. For the purpose of increasing the height of the lift, juts were used. The control of the boom came from the driver's cab, which, in turn, was located on a turntable. The load capacity of this machine was 12,500 kg. The operator's work was facilitated by the availability of additional sensors such as:

• Machine angle angle meter and boom position indicator.
• Sensor warning of dangerous voltage.
• The stopper, preventing the attempt of lifting / lowering of the cargo exceeding the permissible value by its own weight.

MAZ-5334 in the performance of "tanker" was intended for the transportation of large amounts of fuel and other operations with it (for example, pumping liquids). On the frame of the car and chassis was installed a tank, pumps, filtration system, pipelines, instrumentation.

In conclusion, I would like to say that MAZ-5334 (the photo of the car is given in the article) and to this day is able to perform the tasks assigned to it, although it has already been successfully replaced by younger modern analogues.
