Make a porch of polycarbonate

Polycarbonate in construction has appeared relatively recently and has firmly taken a strong position, replacing glass, wood and film. It, thanks to its plasticity, allows you to create the most intricate architectural forms. Owners of the private farmstead estimated the possibility of using it in the manufacture of porches, greenhouses, greenhouses, etc. This material is easy to install and has high strength, as well as good light throughput. The porch of polycarbonate is inexpensive and it turns out to be quite practical.

Required Tools

When going to build a porch from polycarbonate, you should take care of finding the necessary tools for work. You will need: a drill, a screwdriver with attachments, a Bulgarian, a welding machine with the power of 220 V.

Necessary materials

  • Square metal profile. If you want to build a fairly spacious porch of polycarbonate, you should take a profile of a large section. The area of this canopy will be large, which is good, because it must withstand a significant snow load in the winter season.
  • Self-tapping screws with thermowells for fixing polycarbonate. They should be selected depending on the thickness of the material.
  • Tapes and end profiles are needed in order to hide polycarbonate ends from possible ingress of dust and insects into the interior.
  • Primer and paint for outdoor work on metal will be required to preserve the elegant appearance of the porch and eliminate the appearance of corrosion on the metal.
  • Polycarbonate 6-8 mm thick.

The roof of the porch is made of polycarbonate. Stages of assembly of a structure

The porch of polycarbonate should have a canopy that will cover the area serving as the foundation and entrance to the room.

  • At the first stage, a frame is constructed, to which the product sheets will be attached. For this purpose, the most suitable is a galvanized metal profile.
  • At the second stage, support pillars are installed to ensure the stability of the structure. For each of them it is necessary to excavate a pit with a depth of approximately 1.5 m, and in them a concrete support. So it should be done for the whole foundation. The distance between supports can not be more than 2 meters. The foundation thus created must dry up within two days.
  • In the third stage, transverse supports are installed. To give the canopy shape of the arch, they must be bent. The transverse supports are interconnected by spacers.
  • At the fourth stage, polycarbonate is adjusted to the dimensions of the assembled frame. Here you can already see almost finished construction.
  • In the fifth stage, the polycorbate is arched. To do this, fix the profile, make small cuts on it every 4 cm and then bend it.
  • At the last stage, the concave polycarbonate is fastened to the supports and frame. The holes for fastening are made at a distance of 30 cm.
  • And at last all edges of a design are pasted.
