The appeal of "huckster" can be heard quite often, but many do not know what, or rather, who this word stands for. Who such барыги, and why them so name?

Baryga is a slang word, originating from the criminal world. In Russia, this concept began to be used in the dashing 1990s, when small business developed. • In some cases, the huckster is just a very greedy, unpleasant trader, eager to make a profit at any cost. The word has an offensive and pejorative meaning. Most often, such baryg very few buyers.

But ordinary goods, such as tea, cigarettes, hygienic supplies, are in great demand. In prison, ordinary money is practically devalued, so most often there is a barter exchange: goods for goods. It's this kind of trade that the hucksters do.
