When the intestine turns or partially twists together with the mesentery around the axis, which is accompanied by a violation of blood flow, there is an obstruction of the intestine in an acute form, otherwise - the turn of the intestines. Symptoms of this condition, provided that the bowels turn 180 degrees or more can become life threatening. There can be a turn in the intestines in anyone, including in young children as a result of inferior peristalsis. The condition can lead to tissue necrosis, peritonitis and even cause death.

The very first and most important symptom is a cramping pain in the abdomen. Soon, the temperature rises considerably, nausea and vomiting (sometimes with blood) appear. The second sign is the retention of gases and stools. These are common symptoms, in general they depend on the twisting of which gut has occurred.

Such a state can lead to sudden changes in the body's body, a sharp change in the posture, strong constipation, damage to the peritoneum of a mechanical nature, excessive filling of intestinal food. Often, the turn of the intestines occurs in men over the age of forty, in which the ration is dominated by hard coarse food. In most cases, gut twisting happens at night. It depends largely on the state of the mesentery - its perpendicular or narrow attachment, the development of scars, wrinkling contribute to the twist, as in these cases, the loops converge and the lengthening of the mesentery and gut. In addition, the increase in the intestine of acute obstruction can be increased due to physical exertion, for example, when lifting weights, intra-abdominal pressure, and reinforcement due to intestinal overload of indigestible voluminous food of peristalsis.

Turn of the small intestine

It occurs most often, while it is characterized by the most severe symptoms. Suddenly, severe pain occurs in the navel. There is a delay in bowel movements, gas, bloating, vomiting. Involvement of the intestines, whose symptoms include even lower blood pressure, blanching of the skin, increased heart rate, may occur even when only one loop of the small intestine is twisted .

Sigmoidal curvature

In this case, the pathological condition is often preceded by chronic constipation. The symptoms manifest themselves violently: in the abdomen there is a sharp pain and tension, the exhaustion of the gases completely ceases, there is no stool, bloating increases, breathing becomes more difficult. After the turn of the intestines, the symptoms of a general nature may be weak for a while, their intensity depends on the degree of twisting of the intestine.

Treatment

The condition requires prompt emergency intervention. In case of a turn of the sigmoid colon, you can try to eliminate it by using siphon enemas. If performance is not observed, laparoscopic (by puncturing the abdominal wall) or surgical (by incision of the abdominal wall) is indicated.
