This disease causes a whole group of viruses that affect different systems and human organs. That is why the symptoms of enterovirus and its manifestations can be diverse. As for the ways of transmission, it can be an airborne path (by sneezing and coughing) or fecal-oral (through contaminated water and food or dirty hands). The incubation period of the disease on average is from 3 to 10 days, that is, from the moment the virus enters the body before the first signs can take a whole week or even more.

1. Respiratory form. It is characterized by the presence of such manifestations: runny nose, stuffy nose, dry infrequent cough. Such symptoms of enterovirus appear suddenly and look like a cold, and a week later they pass.

2. Enterovirus fever: fever to fairly impressive levels (38.5 degrees or more), fever, muscle pain, general weakness and deterioration.

3. Intestinal form. If the virus has entered the intestine, then it can manifest itself by such signs as abdominal pain, swelling, vomiting and a strong watery and often frequent (sometimes up to 10 times a day) diarrhea.

4. Enterovirus of exanthema. It is characterized by the appearance of a rash in the form of vesicles or spots on all parts of the body. Literally after a couple of days such a rash disappears without a trace.

5. Acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis. Suddenly there is pain in the eye, then begins increased tears, a phobia of light, and the capillaries of the eyeball may burst.

6. Herpangina. There may be a lot of sore throat when swallowing. On the tonsils, the root of the tongue, the back wall of the palate and on the pharynx appear bubbles, which then can turn into sores.

7. Often the central nervous system is affected, meningitis, encephalitis or neuritis of the facial nerve can develop.

Is the enterovirus dangerous? Symptoms in children can develop very rapidly. Often serious complications arise. So it is extremely important at the first signs to consult a doctor and begin treatment after diagnosis. By the way, there is no definite effective remedy against this group of viruses, so that therapy will be limited to the elimination of symptoms and manifestations. Also shown are bed rest and sparing food.
