Inspection of the scene of an incident is one of the investigative actions in which the investigator or other persons (fixed in the legislation) directly examine, perceive, evaluate and fix the signs and properties of material objects in order to find objects and traces relevant to the investigation, and to establish the mechanism of the event Events and other circumstances. As a rule, inspection of the scene is carried out without delay, in order not to lose track, to fix the situation and circumstances of what happened.

Under the place of incident is understood the site of the terrain, the place where the crime occurred, and where the objects that are to be seized are located. The boundaries of the inspection are determined by the investigator independently.

Inspection tasks

• General - is to obtain actual data about an event, persons and objects related to it;
• Private - the detection of traces, the identification of objects to be seized, the establishment of witnesses and eyewitnesses, the establishment of causes that contributed to the crime, etc.

Tactics of inspection of the scene

WMD is produced in several stages:

1. Preparatory. It is carried out after receipt of the message on a crime. It consists in rendering assistance to the victims, organizing the protection of the scene of the incident, taking measures to prevent harm from crime, if possible, identifying the specialists needed to engage in the examination, ensuring the presence of witnesses,

2. Worker. It is aimed at establishing the mechanism of the crime, identifying traces and other objects that contribute to the investigation. At this stage, a photo or video is taken.

3. The final. The plan-schemes and protocol of WMD are drawn up, remarks received during the investigative action are heard, the evidence is packed and sealed.

Psychology of the scene inspection

Since the investigative action is carried out at the initial stages, it significantly affects the further course of the investigation. The mistakes made during the inspection may lead to the promotion of the wrong version and, as a result, the guilty person will not be held accountable.

In order to draw the right conclusions, it is necessary to collect all information relevant to the investigation. Then it should be carefully analyzed and put forward versions that explain the event. Later they are compared with the situation of the scene, the existing contradictions are established.

In the psychological analysis of the activity of the person who performs the inspection of the scene, the organizational, search, reconstructive, and certifying aspects are singled out. The first is the organization of work at the scene (cordon around the site, coordinating the actions of investigators, etc.). Of great importance is the presence of authority in the investigator, to whom the others must obey, guided in the work by his instructions and instructions. Otherwise, the group will work in isolation and the required result will not be achieved.

The search activity is to identify the information necessary for the investigation. The situation of the crime scene is perceived through rational thinking and sensory perception.

The reconstructive side of the activity consists in analyzing the information received and submitting versions. In the future, each of them is checked and a real picture of events is established.
